(CNN) -- Two Maryland teenage girls were charged this week with assaulting an autistic boy and recording him on their cell phones performing sex acts, including some with animals, the St. Mary County Sheriff's Department said Wednesday.

these girls should be punnished to the fullist extent of the law. sexual attacks are not only commited by male attackers and these girls are old enough to understand what vile acts they have commited and the punishment that may be delt to them.

This kind of lack of basic humanity is why I also search out the uplifting. What these girls did (more than once, it seems?) is so disgusting, it begs a counterbalance, confirmation, that kindnesses still happen on a regular basis.

And...look at the mugshot of the older girl. To have such dead empty eyes at the tender, on-the-cusp age of 17?

The USA's youth is just fine, we don't need to decry the downfall of society every time somebody does something disgusting. People have been doing awful things since the human race began, but we are more empathetic and aware of others now than we have ever been.

These girls are despicable though.

I agree that they are just as fine as they have always been, which isn't very. I don't think kids are any worse now than they ever were. We just hear more about a lot of shit because of the easy flow of information now.

I guess if they were on PCP or something then maybe you have a point (not that we actually know that's what was wrong with these girls. They might just be psychopaths).... but no one is really arguing that those kinds of drugs should be legalized (although that might be the best idea - works for Holland!), so if that's what you means your statement about legalization makes little sense.....

I don't have kids, but no, I wouldn't LET my kids get high.... That has almost nothing to do with whether or not they actually will get high. My parents sure as hell didn't let me get high when I was a kid, but I sure was high a lot (and I never even sexually assaulted anyone!).
Of course people OD in Holland and everywhere else. What are you talking about?? Drugs will exist whether they are legal or not. Addition problems and ODs, etc are worse in countries where said drug is illegal because there is no regulation, no quality control, no age limit, a lack of education, etc etc etc. And I don't know if there is drug trafficking related crime problems within Holland for legal drugs... If there is, I guarantee you there is a lot less of it than in North America, and also guarantee that it is non-existent when it comes to weed, not that that is what we're talking about. I just don't understand why you mentioned the legality of drugs when making your point. Legal drugs are better than illegal drugs for many different reasons.

There were plenty of kids doing all kinds of fucked up shit in the 50s and 60s too. It just wasn't on the news as much. So much got ignored by the media back then, and so much more was purposefully kept from the media by law enforcement. There were psychopathic teens then just as there are now..... and bullying was probably worse then than now. It was just acceptable back then.

Well you never distinguished between boys and girls until now. Girls committing crimes like this is incredibly unusual NOW. That's why everyone is so stunned by the story. Just because these two fucked up girls did this doesn't mean it's a trend. But it certainly isn't the first time girls have done something awful. There is a long (but incredibly short compared to the men's) list of heinous crimes committed by women from every era.
