Best version of Long Road

I apologize if this has been brought up in other threads. But I'm on the hunt for a great version of Long Road. The first that comes to mind was at Red Rocks in Colorado, a video I saw from the mid 90s, that version was excellent. But also hard to find I imagine. Anyone have some suggestions of their favorite live version of this song?

I also say San Diego '06
The intro and the introduction alone is very nice, but it is a very intense version.

I would say Berlin 06/30/2010 - at least it's definitely the best I've seen live (so far )

Absolutely fantastic version that set the tone for this show. Lucky enough to have seen this twice. It was the first ever song I saw them play in Dublin the same year. San Diego 06 is probably my favourite plus the 9/11 concert version with Neil Young is always worth mentioning.

Berlin 2010 truly is a fantastic version. I would also have to add the Vault #3 version as well. Oslo 2012 should also receive some praise as well. I've been listening to all of the 2012 boots in succession recently, and if you want a technically flawless performance of the song with Matt's drums sounding as crisp and punchy as ever, give this one a listen.

without a doubt its the 11/3/96 Berlin show... but a lot of those versions from '96 are pretty good. Couldn't find a You Tube clip, but found this.

sd 2006 is good but ed misses up the middle part. i absolutely love the kitchener and toronto 1 2011 versions (both anniversaries of 9/11). i requested the randall's island one so that is one of my favorite too.

+1 on Oslo 12 deserving some love. Toronto 1 2011 always gets me. I enjoy that rendition too.

  • I agree with San Diego '06 and Berlin '10 (although I prefer Dublin to Berlin - but I might be biased)

Another one that is really tremendous is Borgata 1 in 2005. I think it's flawless - really intense, Stone adds some really beautiful textures, Mike's tone sounds almost country, and the crowd is amazing - especially at the end where Ed starts trading with them. Check it out - it's fantastic.

tribute to America. Eddie, mike, and uncle Neil. Sept. 2001.

This one, studio quality live performance with Neil...can't beat it. I think Casper and red Rocks 95 had killer versions as well.

Yes, 3/29/98 Not In Our Name benefit, hands down.
  • The Groundwork Benefit version with Rahat is quite beautiful and powerful too - very different from the Not in our Name version. To see the mutual respect between Ed & Rahat is amazing and quite a powerful statement to sing - and slowdance - with a Muslim performer just 40 days after 9/11. The reaction from the crowd is fantastic too. Great version.

I know I was there, but I tend not to love boots of shows I went to...that being said Chicago 09 was sick. Ed's vocals soared.
