This is getting out of hand, it is happening way too frequently. The police fear no punishment, so the abuse will continue. I'm sick of being told that they are heroes and serve and protect. I'm sick of being told that it's isolated. I'm sick of seeing police beat people to death.

right on brother!!! it boils my blood!
sidenote: it pisses me off that if they harass me at a constitutionally illegal DUI checkpoint (or other non-propbable cause waste of my time) and I lose my job or miss a life event, I have no redress from the govt which is harassing me.

also, just to stir the pot... American Soldiers are not heroes, they are mercenaries. If you join an army for money (career prospect to be PC) during war, you are volunteering to kill for money. This is not a hero.

Off-topic but I can't stand people who say that they "support the troops" but continue to vote for the same people from both parties that put them in harm's way.

    A) The news story above is exceptionally vague. There are no details. I am not saying I condone any of it, but it'd pretty hard to have an opinion about it when there are no details at all about what led up to them focusing on him, what he said/did, etc.

    B) Re your assessment of soldiers: Yeah, sure, it's just as simple as they just sign up to be a soldier for money. There are never other factors involved, right? Plain and simple. Must me nice to live in a country where you can post this kind of completely naive and inflammatory stuff without any thoughts of repercussions. Soldiers don't factor into that at all, right?

Sorry, but the issue should not be about the soldiers. The issue is with where our corrupt and greedy government sends them without giving a legitimate or justifiable cause for doing so. We need an army. We don't need hidden agendas that put them in harm's way.

Cops who behave in a heroic manner and strive to serve and protect are heroes and/or people who serve and protect. Cops who kill for no reason are murderers.

Brian, I agree. And I think that heroism extends to the regular Joe as well.

rgambs, I typically appreciate your input here...but you really had to throw out that comment "just to stir the pot"? My father was an American soldier via the horrors happening in Germany at the time, and his parents subsequently having a lovely little stay at Theresienstadt.

You want to think of him and similar others as a mercenary? Fine. I'm proud of him for spending his teenage years in the US (he came here ALONE at age 14), becoming a citizen of this country, becoming a member of the Army, and going back to Europe to battle in 1943. He was 21 years old.

    That, to me, is heroic.

(unsung, I apologize for the straying from your topic; just had to address this)

Police need to be held accountable. All the way back to the Rodney King beating. We can just let them off the hook everytime because we don't really care for the people on the bloodied side of the stick.

I've always agreed that bad cops need to be exposed, called out on their shit. Bit why is it not ok (for some any way) to say good things about good cops? I don't get that. Same with soldiers.

I believe it is what is called "black and white thinking".

did someone say you can't say good things about cops? i guess i take it for granted that there are no absolutes. it's all shades of grey and when someone says something bad about a group they typically understand that there are exceptions to the majority. obviously we know there are good cops and good soldiers, and you all know we know that too, even if we don't load every statement with PC qualifiers.
Political Correctness destroys the effectiveness of dissent. the liberal class has been decimated, and bending backwards to avoid offending people constantly only makes us inneffectual.

Typical monday quarterbacking here. This video does not show the deceased behavior until he was on the ground. I am sure he was not acting too" nicely" towards the Police. Police are not paid to fight fair and trained to use necessary force until the threat is eliminated. None of those guys were "tuning" the deceased up when he was on the ground.
