    1. this guy is a huge fraud ... who basically sold himself to the highest bidder ... but regardless ...
    2. his actual statement says that there is no proof that global warming is predominantly caused by man ... he admits that it is a factor - he just won't concede how much of a factor ...
    3. again - i ask as diplomatically as possible ... educate yourself on the basic science of global warming ... do not get your information from right wing conservative blogs ... you don't have to have a masters in climate science to understand that global warming is real and that man is a significant cause of it ...

Moore left Greenpeace in the 1980s over a campaign to “ban chlorine” worldwide which is something they never did. Moore also called environmentalists “murderers” because they paved the way to discontinued use of DDT. They guy is a crank and an opportunist and does not represent Greenpeace nor the vast majority of educated environmentalists. I don't buy into any of his rhetoric.

Here's what one Greenpeace article says about Moore:

Why does it even matter at this point if it's man-made or not? Continuing to focus on ridiculous denying that we have serious global climate issues does not help the deniers viewpoint except to dig a deeper hole in the sand to place your head in.
Rather than focus on an irrelevant argument, how about just pick up the trash on your property, waste less, recycle, and preserve what we've got?

If global warming is man-made (you know how I feel), recognizing that is the first step toward correcting the problem. We are the reason there is too much carbon in the atmosphere. I totally agree with doing the things you suggest. We're fanatic recyclers. The bookstore (a fairly large one at that), and two households only use one trash can per week and it is often not full. All the rest goes into compost or recycling. We would all do well to do our little part including using less and reducing our driving miles per person. But the more I read the more I think we also need to prepare for living with the affects of global warming, especially preparing younger generations to do the same. I don't mean to sound pessimistic or alarmist in saying this but I believe it's going to get worse before it gets better.

That didn't stop people from buying into what Al Gore was selling.

Al Gore is seen as being of a hypocrite with his large personal footprint but if people like him, Prince Charles, even Neil Young take up more than their fair share of so-called footprint but educate and/or motivate millions and millions of people to awareness and action I'm all for it. Unfortunately, they're just easy targets for deniers and cranks.
