poem: till gone

she drew rain on me
her pencils tiny rainbows
each piece fire
we ate fruit
wild & free
her work-hand streaking light
a mermaid at night
we wouldn't last long
her biting mouth my flesh took
spears red ran
deeper music begging high
she swam away
before i could stay
the only picture would
lonely swan killer
all colors all smiles
with delicate teeth
filed to the bone
she fell she would fall
even monks sharpening stone
you could see our balloons
all future's sung
simple bells rung
just give your word
to escape here
sailors will take us away
to stay
destroying no moonlit castles
in all that i am
her walking canvas
holding what keeps
my head hung
her glass bead flags
beat wind atop golgotha
backs rawhide whipped
wine spilt not sipped
the only hill took
our salvation a sign
spiritual rescue
salivating beasts foaming flame
our simple foregivesness
if it only takes forever
please remember painted on
we wear his tomb till gone
her pencils tiny rainbows
each piece fire
we ate fruit
wild & free
her work-hand streaking light
a mermaid at night
we wouldn't last long

I am tired; my heart is
sick and sad. From where
the sun stands I will fight
