Rather than change my mind 20 or 30 times I'll go with this first favorite that came to mind:

    Nowhere Man
“The fear of death follows from the fear of life. A man [or woman] who lives fully is prepared to die at any time.”
Variously credited to Mark Twain or Edward Abbey.

    'Please Please Me'.
The urgency in John's voice really propels this number along.
And those harmonies still knock me out!

Eleanor Rigby...at top volume is as scary as NIN the Downward Spiral.

Great pick! One of my favorite Beatles song. I love everything about that song. I agree, the harmonies knock it out of the park, especially during the middle eight.

Impossible to choose 1 favourite, but my top favourite Beatles songs are songs mostly written by John with a little help from Paul, with John as the sole or main singer. Ticket to Ride and Help! come to mind. Norwegian Wood; In My Life; A Day in the Life; Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds.... And then there's the ones John wrote alone, like Strawberry Fields, Happiness is a Warm Gun, All You Need Is Love; Don't Let Me Down, Across the Universe.....the list goes on and on.

I'll pick 1 song from each Beatle:

    John: I Am the Walrus
    Paul: Penny Lane
    George: Here Comes the Sun
    Ringo: Octopus' Garden
