I'm home sick and useless, so I'm up to episode 10 already. I'll probably finish the season today.

Finished season 3 last night... did not care for it. Season 1 was excellent, 2 was not as good but still ok, 3 was just erratic. Seemed like they didn't really know where to go with it so they just went all over the place. The mock summits and debates were rather elementary and, at times, laughable. Kevin Spacey is still great though.

Glad I'm not the only one who was disappointed by this season. I found it pretty boring. It seemed like there was a lot more talking, a lot less happening.

I got 15 minutes into the first episode of season 3 and decided I'm done. I agree that 1 was great and 2 not really. I got sick of Kevin Spacey's accent. I spent five years living in South Carolina, and never once did I hear a person talk like that. I also grew weary of the whole soliloquy-in-the-camera thing. The purpose of that device is to make a viewer feel complicit in the character's behavior, but the character is so despicable I couldn't empathize. I wanted him to stop talking to me. By the end of season 2, I grew bored with how one-dimensional everybody is, and then season 3 starts with 15 minutes of a guy in bed watching TV. No thanks. Too bad they couldn't keep the suspense going the way they did in season 1.

Because it's funny and because people like the characters. I'm not saying evil characters can't be likable. If you're a fan of General Hospital (haha), you know that the most likable, popular characters are the mobsters and the murderers because we see different sides to them. Walter White in Breaking Bad is another example -- morally bankrupt, yet we couldn't all help but sympathize with him.

I just find the Kevin Spacey villain flat, probably because his voice is so damned flat, and it annoys the hell out of me. I want to smack the fake southern drawl right out of him. If I knew where his psychopathology came from, then maybe I would start to go deeper into the show. But the writers offer nothing except one horrible deed after the other, and I guess I have a hard time believing that one human being is capable of being all bad, all the time. Somebody else said it above: "Nothing good ever happens" and I can't relate that.

People are completely free to disregard my opinion and explain why they love this show and the character. I don't need to be right. Just looking for something to talk about on another snowy night.

I like the soliloquy and actually thought s3 needed more of them. I also like his accent. It reminds me of foghorn leghorn lol
The characters are hopelessly unrelatable though so unless they're pushing people in front of trains or banging kept hookers or secret service agents they become boring.
Who was watching tv in the beginning? I dunno why i can't remember that.

I don't remember the characters' names . . . it was the aide who got injured in the s2 finale (which I also don't remember except it took place in the woods and someone was killed)

The fact that we don't remember speaks volumes.

Finally finished season 3 last night. Pretty telling that it took this long to watch the entire season. This season was kinda all over the place. Should be interesting to see what happens in season 4 if Claire really does end up leaving him.

I am actually surprised to se so many negative comments about this show here. I think it's one of the best shows ever made, right up there with Breaking Bad (not as good, but that would be impossible, lol). I love it. I hate that I have to keep waiting a year for 13 more episodes though. :anguished:

just finished the 3rd season. yeah, i don't get all the negativity also. it is a fantastic show. i do agree that season 3 was the weakest and slowest moving, however it's better than most other shows on tv right now.

one of the greatest of all time? no...although that first season is about as good as anything i've seen. i liked the dynamic between frank and zoe and the glimpses they gave you of the dying newspaper medium. when she was alive, i kind of thought zoe was annoying....it was only after her death that i realized how much she meant to the show...........quite honestly, in my opinion, one of the marks of a great show is the willingness to kill off main characters even if it is a detriment to the show in the long run. i just like shows that have the balls to do that. was thinking that when russo left us as well. loved his character.

and if you can't remember doug stamper's name.....your watching the wrong show.
