Your design on ebeans would be awesome.

I imagine it would be like when the guy who invented peanut butter teamed up with the guy who invented chocolate.

That reminds me of a family guy episode. Office reese's discovers the combo.

It would be cool to have a feature similar to discogs where you can see the market value of your collection along with selling and buying.
I actually thought of this, but trying to come up with a way to calculate this with any meaningful data would be difficult. Do you go on acquisition cost? 6-month average? If so from what site(s)(would be hard to get data from ebay and expresso beans and forums). Additionally you would need to calculate and store all the info somewhere.

This is where some kind of collaboration with expresso beans would really help.

Ok well someone else had posted to the ebeans help and suggestions forum looking for ideas on new features. I posted my link and a few long winded paragraphs to see if there is any interest over there. I will see if I get any responses.

Fingers crossed. Ebeans is awesome but badly in need of a facelift.

    I like it.
Not only the posters. I would expand it to other collectibles and Vinyl.
You can probably make a form, so users can provide the data for new/additional things and the administrator(s) would have to approve.
You can have a trade page where people track all trades over time.

Maybe open it to other bands' stuff, especially if users are allowed to provide data/profiles for approval.

Some good ideas here. So far nothing but crickets from expressobeans folks. Maybe they are busy. The thread I posted in has not gotten much love. People seem to like it over there. I technical hurdle over there might be the software they are running. I think the entire site is running off their forum software, its pretty limiting in how it can be modified from what I see.
  • What i would say open it to the folks on here like a limited time sign up. We can populate the databases for you based on data from expressobeans and other places. I would much rather deal with people on here then over there when it comes to PJ posters.then when you have a decent running product that is when you push expressobeans and you can show them what they could have/what you can help them to accomplish. I would love to help out anyway i can. Thanks One thing i would love to see is a traders list with feedback from each transaction just like an ebay kinda of thing. That way you feel a bit safer sending money to someone. Just my thoughts.

Yeah but who is leaving feedback, how do we confirm deals are legit. Ebay at least has a way to prove things. I can say my buddy john sold me a print he's A+ and not even know the guy.

Yeah trying to manage auctions is not something I picture doing. It would be more of a hook up but self policed kind of place. I would not want actions, and it would be great to get people not looking to just flip things. I know its impossible to police that but.....

I am hoping to secure some db help this week, if that happens we could probably get a small beta run going in a couple weeks. I have to work some magic as no one likes working for free so I need to sweet talk a few people :)

Well raising this thread from the dead. I have a guy I work with that is looking to work on some projects for experience to add to his resume, so we are thinking of getting this site built. Might have some kind of demo up in the next couple weeks, if I do would be cool to get some feedback to see if there is an interest in something like this. Please see first post for description of what i am looking to do. Would probably start with just PJ posters and if it went well, expand.

Any plans for adding price information similar to ebeans?

What I would like to see is price data for eBay auctions that DID NOT sell. That's important. But I have no idea how you would work that into a price evaluation.

All the time I see auctions for, let's say, $50 end with no sale then someone will try to sell one for $75. When obviously the market does not demand that price. But the averages don't go down because non-sales aren't considered in the data. It would be nice to be able to have that historical data for reference.

I will look into the ebay api to see if we could somehow incorporate it. Would like to pull in ebeans data too, but not sure its possible.

    +1 interested.

the issue i think with ebeans is the price is all encompassing so those averages are not really accurate. They include the pricing for APs as well as Scratch & Dent into one place - which is a little maddening.

Cool, I am going to spend some time on this tomorrow and we will probably do some coding this week. Will update everyone when we have something new to show.
