Toronto Urban Roots Festival 2014

The line-up for the Toronto Urban Roots Festival (TURF) 2014 has been released with Sam Roberts Band and Neutral Milk Hotel headlining while also featuring Gogol Bordello, Gaslight Anthem, Gary Clark Jr., Local Natives and many more artists. More artists will be added. It looks interesting actually:

I saw Gary Clark Jr at Danforth Music Hall last November and he put on a really good show. He played for 1 hour and 50 minutes. I haven't seen Neutral Milk Hotel, but they played two shows at the Kool Haus last month, both sold out. The tickets for those two shows were on sale on Ticketfly and not on Ticketmaster.

Whoever organizes this festival has great taste in music. IMO Toronto usually has pretty weak artists at music festivals, but for a small fest TURF has some serious talent.

I agree. I don't always hear great artists playing at Toronto festivals. When I first heard of this festival, I thought it was going to be more of a folk/indie rock festival with more local acts, but clearly I was wrong and am shocked to see that I actually like the line-up. And the regular early-bird 3-day passes are pretty reasonable ($119.99 + service charges)

A guy I know who lives in Buffalo and who is one of the larger promoters here has a big hand in this festival. Not sure who else is a part of it though.
  • My bets are that locally Craig Laskey and Collective Concerts are also involved
He's a huge Plaskett fan and brought Joel to Massey Hall etc etc
