I was informed of what I did wrong in the previous thread on this subject and want to make sure I follow the board rules, any personal attacks will be forwarded to the board administrators immediately, so lets keep it positive and anyone that wants to have an informed and intellectual debate on the pros and cons of Marijuana Legalization, I am happy to debate you in a respectful manner, but clearly debating the virtues of Marijuana Legalization, when the band is actively promoting it is not against the board rules

I use to smoke pot before Pearl Jam concerts when I was younger and it made the experience much better, your senses are heightened, even if you don't smoke regularly, it can make the experience much more fun, would like to see anyone who is of legal age and wants that experience to be able to enjoy it

Why do I feel like I'm being preemptively scolded or something?

    Anyway.

Here in good ol' California, it's legal on the medicinal front - thankfully so. I use it for those benefits and for fun as well. Hopefully we (and other states) will go the way of CO and WA.

As to smoking one with Mr. V, he'd be as welcome to share one with me as most anyone else.

And to quote my beloved Willie -

"When I'd go I've been here long enough
So you'll sing and tell more jokes and dance and stuff
    Just keep the music playin',
    That'll be a good goodbye
Roll me up and smoke me when I die"

I'm a pretty regular smoker and am totally for the legalization. Not just because of the old arguments that it's way safer than alcohol, etc...but the taxable money that can be made (and I imagine is getting made in CO and WA) could really be beneficial for the economy. It sounds like something some hippie would say in 1967 while licking the cover of Sgt. Peppers but "Weed could save the world man!" It really could. And frankly, it'd be a step toward less drug violence. Even Pat Robertson, as conservative as they get, thinks it should be legalized for the financial benefits of it.

I've smoked weed pretty fucking regularly since I was like 16 (I'm 30 now). I'm not the stoner I used to be; blunts and bongs and the like. Now, I basically take hits from a one-hitter from time to time; ride home from work, before I dominate some noob on MLB The Show, before I lay in bed to fall asleep to Family Guy reruns. But my friends and I certainly don't get together anymore just to smoke weed. I mean....we used to SMOKE WEED. And I'm sure many of you know what I'm trying to relate here. I'm talking grinding up dank buds and rolling mad blunts and sprinkling some hash on it and having at it. One of the things I'd always say is "I have a champion's cotton-mouth." What is that? Only a pothead would say that. I'm not that on a day to day basis anymore. Only for more special occasions: concerts and stuff like that.

Having said all that, I'm not one for the glorification of weed like it's the greatest thing ever. I would never try to convince a non-smoker that it's a good thing because it's really not from a health standpoint. In addition to all the things it does to your brain in the long run, the lung-cancer potential is very high for the every day smoker. Think of all the resin you scrape out of your bowls when you clean them. That shit's on your lungs tenfold.

Why I like to Vape, it's easier on the lungs, (not that I don't sometimes enjoy a well rolled J)

Ledbetterman and Idris - you (and many others) are gorgeous - redeeming, even? - evidence that people can have partaken - or continue to partake on a regular basis - and still be intelligent and well-spoken...with excellent grammar and punctuation to boot. I'm a sucker for that :)

We got us a vaporizer maybe eight or nine years ago, and used it just a handful of times. I felt I was just...missing it. Didn't really feel anything. Are they much different/better now vs. then?

for me the best way to use THC is cookies or brownies. that is one awesome medication. pretty soon you're feeling it well on & you're like, "wow, what happened, i didn't smoke any grass, yet here i am feeling fucking awesome, oh yeah, i ate the stuff"

marijuana butter. that is the deal. it takes quite some time to retrieve the butter. from what i understand you boil leaves & some buds & throw in some butter. turn a water tight container upside down, the next day your butter is at the top & green

They have it at the dispensary I go to; still need to explore that!

chadwick, I bet I'd love it once I could figure out the dosage. There was just recently a news story about edibles - say, eating a cookie, not feeling anything 45 minutes or so later, then eating another one, then boom. Cumulatively fucked up.

Next time I'm hurting to the point of needing a pill, I'm definitely going the cookie route.

(Also, I wish anyone in a similar boat could and would have that same access and peace of mind.)

  • Hedonist, we were treated to a nice Christmas Eve from a friend with wax and a portable vape, much like the one in that video. It IS a lot different, but it was the best high I've had in a really long time.

And yeah, we had special brownies brought to a game night at our house. It took a good 30-40 minutes to start feeling it, but when it did, it lasted the rest of the night. Baked goods are awesome.

    put it this way

if you eat two cookies/brownies you are gonna be wanting to be in a safe zone like your house, friend's house or whatever. it's pretty heavy & totally fantastic

I wish I had an easy way of getting/making some. I'd pay for some to be sent to me! Haha

I tried making brownies once. Ate one, waited almost an hour- nothing. Ate another and two minutes later- WHAM! I had a great time for about 45 minutes but when the second brownie made it's way into the blood stream I got really sick- puking, dizzy, just wanted to die. Not fun!

Almost anytime I smoke, I'm in the sanctuary of home. It's where I can totally let my guard down. Who knows what my neighbors must think of us, with what they hear (and smell).

    Ha!

    (even though it's legal, I'm glad they're not tight-asses)

backseat - I finally watched the video (thanks, Idris!) and the vapes they're showing are NOTHING like the old POS we had. This is now on my to-do list upon my next visit to my new favorite place.

EarlWelsh - you're in NY? I thought you folks had delivery services there!

(and Brian - that sounds like something I would do, hence my trepidation!)

Yes, which is a bit frustrating because ingesting is the healthiest what to consume marijuana. I'm guessing we all have different tolerance levels and add to that the fact that different strains have differing THC levels such that any recipe can cause a wide variety of effects- some not wanted. Maybe when legalization is more wide-spread issues like this will be addressed more openly.

What about pot butters? Anybody had any experience with them? Are some of the same concerns applicable to them as well?

Haha, not to my knowledge. Maybe in NYC but I'm in Buffalo. I have no problem getting herb but already-made edibles is another story and I'd love to get my hands on some.

So I hit up the dispensary to buy some goodies on the way home.

They came with a Friday free pre-roll AND Valentine's Day free pre-roll.

    I love this place.

Also, got a vaporizer and while it took me a few tries to "get it"...now that I have?

    Whoa, mama!

Wish I'd done this sooner. It is loverly.
