  • Very cool idea. Kind of got me thinking. I'm not sure how many people would participate, but maybe starting a thread here posting videos of how to play Pearl Jam songs. It wouldn't have to be the correct 100% way, but ways different people play the songs. It seems it would be easy. Create an email account and youtube account, give out the passwords to whoever would like to contribute, do a lesson and post the link on a thread here. Kind of a way to consolidate how to play Pearl Jam songs here. Help beginners out, learn something new or a variation of how to play a song from others? Maybe?

I think half the fun is figuring it out - you know the songs well, its just playing and playing around until you get it!

  • I figured it would be helpful for people trying to learn. I understand the part of figuring it out is fun, but when I first started learning 10 plus years ago it was very frustrating. Besides, I'm sure we've all had that friend that taught us some chords and a song or two when we first started learning. Anyways, it was just an idea. Seeing if anyone else thought it might be fun and help people learn.

that is a pretty good idea. maybe we can just use this thread for things like that? i look at tabs and a lot of the time they are not right. close, but not right. i play around with it a bit and eventually figure it out. i am horrible at teaching so i could not do instructional videos, but i would post videos of how i play stuff if people would want to see it.

There are some Pearl Jam specific DVD lessons out there - when I was in college I bought a Yield one on VHS and that was a good helper. That's old school now and I'm sure all that shit is on YouTube. As far as the 'proper' way to play, my go to used to be www.giventowail.com if I was really stumped, but again, the more I played, the better I got, the easier it was to hear what was going on and then sit down and figure it out. I hear you wanting a more direct approach, and I'd personally try to help but I just don't have the time to dedicate to something like that my friend.

Great idea! Videos would be great. How about audio clips? I learned I Got Id yesterday. I'll try to do a video too.
