Does Ed and the band know about Like A Boss at the Big Day Out?

It would be nice if Eddie and the guys know about the fiasco and rip off that is the Like A Boss tickets. For those who don't know, normal tickets went on sale for $185, but the promoter offered Like A Boss tickets for $285. Promising special tickets, a club pass, exclusive access to mainstage veiwing areas, bars, toilets, and much more..., like everyone else all I have received is the special ticket and a key ring/medallion, and now the map for the changed venue has been released for Perth, the 'exclusive access to mainstage veiwing areas' is to the very front side giving a shit view and everyone will be better off to be in normal GA area. There is only one bar, some toilets, and not 'much more'. Basically an extra $100 for nothing. Other Like A Boss ticket holders around Australia have been complaining about being scammed at their cities Big Day Out.

Here is the Perth map for this Sunday, check out where the Like A Boss section is: http://bdop1.c3cdn.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/6PERTH-BDO-Sitemaps-5v3.jpg

So I wonder if the band know. It would be nice for them in Perth to look to the very left (without breaking their necks) and make a toast to the people, including 10C members, who have paid ALOT more than the standard Pearl Jam and Big Day Out ticket to see them (who might not actually be able to see them!). Not that I think I will be in the 'exclusive' Like A Boss section. I will be waiting patiently for them to play Black, Garden and Yellow Moon in an area I can hear and see them! Can't wait.

Amen! Totally agree!!! I paid top dollar for my wife and myself to see PJ in Melbourne with the view of not having to put up with drunk fuckwits like the usual BDO crowd and probably get a better view than the general public. And we were presented with an area which would more likely suit my fucking dog! Seriously, do we need to be caged? I thought I was at the zoo, not a PJ concert. Is 2 feet really elevated?!! Not to mention the toilets!!! We had to watch the gig from at least 250m away from the stage. These pricks who organised this debacle they call a 'festival' should have their fucking heads read. I would sincerely hope that the band don't know about these 'exclusive areas' otherwise it would be against everything they stand against. We should be given a refund it was that bad.

  • 100% agree. I didn't expect to be pampered or anything but somewhere remotely close to the stage would have been nice.

Melb BDO was my first BDO. Very impressed with the GA crowd, the alcohol sections to the side being fenced off was a major positive and meant there were little to no drunk knobs in the GA section.

From where I was in the GA area it looked as if the Like a boss section was to the side and miles away. I researched the like a boss section comments from previous BDO's on the net before deciding not to spend the extra $100.

I dunno if we had LIke a Boss tickets in Auckland but I did notice that the "immortals lounge" where they let celebrities and such go (or did at the old venue) which used to be up in one of the corporate lounges, was actually a little concrete stand BEHIND the main stage. no way could they even see the stage, let alone get any kind of view of anything other than the crowd having fun. kinda funny.

Have to admit, I had an opportunity to get these just before the show and changed my mind and I'm SO GLAD I DIDNT! I totally understand you being pissed off about that, the section was tiny, they had a few seats just placed around and a giant cage! They should call them 'Like A Dog' tickets!

Yes I had a like a boss ticket for Sydney. I only bought it because I have back injuries and cant stand all day I need to sit regularly. The sound was shit and when Pearl Jam played they turned off the big screen so you could hardly see the band. Got seriously ripped off me thinks. My first and last BDO that,s for sure. $100 extra for a keyring and a fancy ticket. What a load of crap. We should all get a$100 refund . Scumbag promoters, should have their balls removed, with a broken bottle.

the media keeps touting the big day out a triumph, but i've read that pj's management questioned the attendance numbers... and i know from experience in auckland that all that bullshit they spouted about the band being able to play as long as they wanted was crap since they had a strict curfew (understandable sure, but don't make out like curfew is no thing when it means the band have to cut the set short). plus the organisation of it was typically appalling.

so the fact that the most expensive tickets were crap fits in quit suitably with how bdo operates.

No way. They're touting it a complete flop. Which it has been.

here they did. the promoter here was going on about how thrilled he was with how it went. and so people would say.. oh but they say it was better? and i said "... ... well there were trees at western springs.. so.. .. ... no it sucked".

the only reason it wasn't a complete shit day was because of pearl jam. obviously. but every other element about it was typically awful.

Fair points. I can't speak for NZ :-)

They've lost millions on the whole thing. It's a flop.

well the surrounding arears of the venue in nz was nicer. mt smart is a shit hole. but.. but.. the main area where most people wanted to be was (in my opinion) much worse. and i still can't believe they didn't let bags into the D. talk about leaving your punters vulnerable and under prepared.

hopefully never again! *stern look at pearl jam*. NEVER. AGAIN. OK?

I know this , it is clearly the promoters fault completely. They take your money but give you no honey.

  • in adelaide he basically called them pussies cos they were the free water stand (free water taps were available directly underneath the viewing platform).
Yeh I've seen Pearl Jam, too. But I can't remember the dates.

That seems pretty normal compared to most festivals I've been to. There are always more expensive options, but the seats are never any good (where did you expect them to be?) and there isn't really much else they can offer beyond exclusive access to a bar and toilets (what else do you want?).
