PJ Vinyl Question

Were all records originally pressed on 180 gram vinyl, or were they pressed on the thinner vinyl? I know that the most recent records (at least Into the Wild onward) are 180 gram. But I'm unsure about the older records.

I haven't weighed mine but off the top of my head my yield vinyl is the lightest of all of them I believe

I agree. And with being the thinnest, comes the problem of becoming warped. I bought a sealed Yield some time ago, and was pissed as hell when I opened it up and it was warped.

180G records are lots less likely to become warped under normal usage and storage.

Put it between two sheets of glass with some heavy books stacked on top, beside a radiator for a few days. That should sort it out.

Found this. It suggests putting the LP in the oven

My yield LP was a little wobbly after years sitting unsealed on a rack. I finally got a turntable and played it a number of years later and it flattened out just by playing it. No oven needed...

Remember shrinky dinks?!? The oven idea scares me. Putting $$ in my oven just sounds like a poor choice, but that's just me.

Placing it between two sheets of glass near a rad usually works. Don't think I would try the oven idea either.

almost everything up to GHits I think is not 180, can;t confirm or deny, but I know Ten-at least riot act is not 180. Ten had a simply vinyl pressin on 160 or something, but all I can be sure on it, BS, LB, Ten/Vs/Vit redux is 180. Don;t remember on Benny. All the reissue of all the side projects and bands are 180 as well. Think Euke was 180, LOTenL, LOTwoL is not if I recall.

    Lost Dogs can;t recall
