10C angering DC scalpers

Just got back from MCI/Verizon center picking up my 10C tickets. Two scalpers were near the ticket window complaining about how no tickets were going to be released today (which doesn't appear to be true based on a previous post) and bitching about how "this band's fan club has decided that it has the rights to the best seats, so how are we supposed to be able to make a living."
Not that we didn't already know this, but thanks 10C for letting the fans get the good tickets and not the scalpers!

That said, I have bought tickets to every single KC Chiefs game since 2000 from a scalper. Usally for about half of face value.
My buddy did have to kick a scalper in his ass, and almost knocked him over for selling us 2 seats that weren't together once.
We caused a huge scene, and told him we would make sure he didn't sell another ticket the rest of the day.
Eventually, KCPD showed up and he quickly gave our money back.

I also like how Coldplay did tickets on their last tour. They auctioned off the best seats, and than donated a large portion of that to charity. So that way, the people willing to pay an arm & a leg got the seats they wanted and the scalpers couldn't make a shitload of profit.

I saw about 15 of them on the sidewalk between the Metro station and the box office. Big scummy looking dudes. They looked desperate and pissed, as everyone was ignoring them. It felt good to walk past them and pick up my floor ticket that I snagged on TM 6 hours earlier.
The ticket scalping laws differ from town to town, state to state, and country to country.
In DC it is illegal to sell ANYTHING without a permit for any price. So even if you were selling the $56 ticket for $10 it would have been illegal.
That being said there were plenty of tickets exchanging hands last night for significant amounts of money.
