1st pressing vs 2nd pressing ???

Can someone explain or point me to where I can find the answer to how one can tell the difference between a first and second pressing vinyl? Thanks!

The difference is insignificant, is just more of a collectors stuff, sometimes it it is remaster, or different production. from time to time may have some differences on quality and or design but that's no the rule.

    Why not (V) (°,,,,°) (V) ?

There are many ways but most times you can look at the dead wax portion of the record for runout numbers. They will often just add one number or letter to a second pressing. If you are referring to Lightning Bolt the represses have roman numeral II and III on them(or so I hear anyway).

So the information is unique to the repress you are wanting information on.

I'll gladly take the 25-35 Into the wild vinyl over the 200-500 one.

I was wondering if you could tell from the packaging of a sealed version? Sounds like one can not? More specifically the older albums...thanks for the help so far.

Into the Wild has a completely different catalog number between releases. MOV = music on vinyl and is repress or even reissue.

No Code, Yield, Binaural, Riot Act and Avacado all only have one pressing with a US and European version.

Ten has been pressed a few times. http://www.discogs.com/Pearl-Jam-Ten/master/73824

    Vs http://www.discogs.com/Pearl-Jam-Vs/master/73754

    Vitalogy http://www.discogs.com/Pearl-Jam-Vitalogy/master/73769

    Etc. Use discogs.

Like everyone has said, use Discogs. LOTS of great information there and if you don't...you need to archive your collection there. Great way to keep your collection organized.

On Discogs you can have 'Friends' and follow and look at their collections. As PJ collectors and just music fans. I wish I had some of the guys/gals in here as 'Friends' on discogs so I could look at others collections and see what I might be missing.

The catalog number on the spine is always the first way to tell (unless there is a big counterfeit problem with the album) - compare that to the discogs.com listing.

You can sometimes tell by the codes on the sleeve and other identifiers-particularly in older LPs.
    You could try http://www.discogs.com/
They list all versions of most LPs.
