What a great night, a truly amazing experience.

being a fan since '94 or so (The Atlanta Live Release sold me) I never thought I would be able to experience a night as I did last night.

A few highlights for me.

Being that its Massey, I hoped that an "Uncle Neil" song would be played, and as luck would have it, a great one..Long May You Run. a favorite.

No More - beautiful, he was so passionate about it.
ARC - Amazing, and something ill never forget.
Porch - got me reminising of MTV Unplugged
believe You Me - Took me a minute to figure it out, nice surprise!
Dead Man - sounded great.
Trouble - Has always been a favorite, so nice to hear. Love that tune. (the version with Nusrat is still the best)
LIAM! what a pleasure, Im glad the people on hear got me hyped. i was dedicated to not missing his set.

Can't wait for tonight. Thank you Ed, thank you Ten club for the great tixs!

    Believe You Me? for real?
Jam out with your clam out.
  • Ill repost my two posts from the 'Toronto night one kicked ass thread'

Ill add more as things come back to me.

Ive had 5 hours sleep and im still busting!!

    ---
    I REQUESTED BELIEVE YOU ME!!!!

    AND HE FUCKING PLAYED IT!!!

I was 2nd row center, and before the show started my buddy asked me if he ever takes requests and I told him that it could happen. If the time was right.

I said to him at that point that if we request anything it has to be Believe you me. My buddy totally agreed and that was the plan.

He then told me to let him know when that time was right and he will yell it out.

Not being a fan [downright hate] all the yellers and screamer we were both in agreement that if the time was right, we try for it once and thats it.

I was just about to say to my friend 'Ok now' and Ed started into porch, so I knew that was end of the 1st set, yet not to worry the cool shit usually wont happen until the 1st encore.

So Eddie walks on stage for the 1st encore, and after all the applause is over, I tell my friend 'Ok now".

He stands up and yells "Believe You Me" and then sits down.

Eddie not even flitching, couldnt even tell if he heard, noticed or cared, continued to get settled.

And BAM that umistakable first string is hit, and me and my buddy, litterally shreak like little girls.

Everyone around us is looking at us like 'these kids forgot to takes their meds"

    It was UNBELIEVABLE!!

    Im on cloud nine!
    ---

After arc the standing ovation that he got he literally had goosebumps.

He motioned that he had them, but I LITERALLY saw the hair on his arm standing straight up on end.

    I kid you not.

    This show was just unbelievable.

Finally get the setlist - thanks dude.
  • I posted a video of Long May You Run from last night on You Tube. Looks the other videos have been removed due to copyright infringement, so I'm not sure how long it'll be up there! Check it out while you can.

    some real gems in there.
  • ok heres the deal.

I bought 1 set of 10c tickets for the first night because i wanted to share the show with everyone, give someone else a chance to the 2nd night. I also saw EV in vancouver, so i thought with my budget and try to help out the other club members, one night in toronto would be enough.

    I WAS WRONG

I NEED to go to this show, the first night was just too damn amazing.

My question: How much were scalpers selling tickets for outside the venue? Ideally I would want to see Liam Finn again (he's so amazing live) but how much were scalpers selling for before and after Finn came on?

Wow, what a show! Eddie played The Seeker. Did anyone get an audio of it? I jumped outta my seat momentarily. The accoustics at massey are so good. He called us "The Massey Hall singers". I sat in row K left centre, beside a few 10club members. Liam Finn and eliza were very entertaining and talented musicians.
Eddie's comment on Liam looking quite stoned... before they played parting ways or Society.
The "Allegro" story. " I should be out there looking for his leg".

    that was hilarious!
  • tickets were running for like $200+

    AWWWW crap.

any super friendly 10c member have an extra ticket i can buy at least at face value? I'll buy you a poster too :). doesnt even have to be 10c, any ticket, in fact, i think id prefer centre floors back row or balcony near front over most other seats, that way i can at least stand and rock out instead of being yelled at by both fans and security. those massey hall seats aren't so comfortable.

really ... MOTH and Arc were worth the price of admission ...
  • The entire experience was amazing.

Because of the love on this board, I was able to secure two singles for two separate friends.

They both were going to kill me if I didnt get them tickets, so I told them both I will do what I can for them.

Two random people were able to hook me [them] up for tickets for last night show.

Four of us went down together, my buddy and I using my 10c seats, and my two friend with their singles.

The single seats [IF YOU CAN BELIEVE THIS] were right beside each other. What are the fucking odds of that!!

I get my 10c tickets, and take a peak, and it hits me right between the eyes. Row B seats 34-35. 2nd row Center!! WOW! thanks 10c!

The night starts off with Ed coming onto the stage with a pre-recorded Small town playing, and as the crowed is singing along [with ed already on stage] ed joins in and sings along [not into the mic].

The show then starts with Ed addressing the crowd, thanking all of us for such a warm welcome, and saying that "its humbling. To do a show like this, by yourself, you gotta be a little bit cocky, and you guys sorta ruined that."

The screamers and yellers early on were downright horrible.

You could see Ed not really pleased with them, and the jabs started coming out.

"Can you play at my wedding" some brave girl yells out.

"Just be thankful your getting married" what a response, ed turned is head sorta side stage and had this smile like 'i guess i shouldnt have said that'

At one point Ed grabbed his Mandolin, and someone yelled out 'Play Lukin', Ed strummed a bit holding down whatever chords, and he said "Nope cant play lukin on this."

It got to a point where for the most part the yellers finally got the hint, that they were being idiots, and the night really took off.

I was very surprised by having Heres to the State being played so early in the set. I knew he had something planned for later on.

Picture in a Frame was really nice, such a great song, was not expecting it to be played at all.

    The linup of;

    Here's To The State
    Picture In A Frame
    Broken Hearted
    Goodbye
    Driftin'
    Hide Your Love Away
    Last Kiss
    Porch

was just something else. this really picked the show up to another level.

I was quite surprised by last kiss, as it is not a standard on these solo gigs.

Broken Hearted, Goodbye, DRIFTIN this set just kept getting better and better.

Porch was of course amazing, and he left the first set to a roaring standing ovation.

The night for me really took an even bigger turn when I got my request of Believe You Me played to kick off the first encore. [Story in my post above]

Then to have Parting Ways 2 songs later, holy fuck. Talk about a shocker! who would have expected that! first Believe you me, then Parting fucking ways.

You could tell how much ed loved the city and the crowed, he mentioned at one point that through all the years they have played Toronto, the sing alongs are always amazing.

Just when you think the rarities are over, he busts into The Seeker! Are you kidding me!!

He got a standing ovation after No More, which you could tell he was really touched by.

Arc was something else. While he does it hes gets into this trance, sitting on his stool, yet swaying up and down. head down to his toes and then straight back up-right again. You can tell hes just getting lost into what hes creating.

The loops were amazing, I know for me sitting there i was blown away with what i was seeing/hearing.

Another standing ovation occured while the loops were still going, and ed relished in this moment, shaking the hands of the people in the first row, and you can at this moment how truly touched he was. [Again mentioned in my above post]

Hard sun was a great ending, everyone on their feet, house lights on, with people gathered by the front of the stage.

He did lean/fall backwards into the crowed at the end of the song, which was awesome.

The jam ended, the night came to a close, and boy-oh-boy 14 hours later and im still busting!

I am sure I will think of more, or others will post more, like the 'almost pissing on Massey hall' story.

And the bike rider with one leg and the trash can. [whom my friend said she has seen before, and that he uses the trash can sorta like a drum while he panhandles.]

Yeah I agree the seats , even on the floor are quite uncomfortable, and they slide out or in. My seat had a wire poking up my butt, almost completely faded velvet. Those wooden hard seats in the balcony are worse. But you can't beat the sound, anywhere in Massey Hall in spectacular. It's a special music hall. The artists and musicians photos in the bar below are cool.
Liam Finn was also as touched by our appreciation and applause as Eddie's display of goosebumps!

It's great that he played Parting Ways and The Seeker, those are two songs I didn't think he would being out but he did. I saw him at Montreal I, played some surprises too and it really got the crowd going. Parting Ways would have been amazing with Liam Finn, I wish I could have seen that. They really do sound great together.

Get the fuck out of here with Believe You Me.

I was shouting it from 4th Balc @ Newark NJ.

    I must hear this. Must....
"It's as comfortable as can be. But when you're on stage playing with Neil, well -- it's one thing to be at the zoo and watch an animal pace around its cage. It's another to be in the cage with him." -Eddie Vedder

A couple of my buddies got two decent tickets on the balcony for $170 a piece before Liam hit the stage around 7-7:15
