Anyone notice how ridership seems to be down on this new train system? I hate this place and swore I wouldn't post here anymore and yet I seem to post as often as anybody and my participation is down in numbers. Sorry to be negative but man, this sucks. Off I go.

I hate it too, but who wants to take on the headache of having a hosted site that models what it took awhile to get used to from when they changed it the last time!!!

I think once I get my new phone, thats the way I will post on here. Otherwise , I have a good 6 months to decide if I renew for a chance at tix for tours that seems to come near me enough to drive only every 3-4 years, for "holiday" singles that have nothing to do with any spirit of any holiday (99 problems? seriously?) But credit where its due, this year we got it IN THE year it was meant for , not 8,9,10 months after the fact.

I will not be postinf as often....but then again that would be welcome news to some hahhahhaha less FOX news stories
this new lay-out is just to much trouble to follow and hard on my eyes...but as someone said we will get use to it and that's because we enjoy the 10c forum and the people that post here.
I can almost hear someone saying "stop whinning about it" :))

I totally get what your saying GF. I have to say I'm really surprised not as many people have busted me for being so outspoken against this format but here's the way I see it:

-The new forum is less user-friendly to many member/posters.
-The coloration and layout is icy and stand-offish rather than warm, colorful or inviting.
-Navigation is more difficult for many members and the few upgrades generally are outweighed by losses.
-Let's be honest- the vibe her sucks lately.
-It's hard to read that's a lot of what do we do here, eh?

I could go on and on but the thing is, a lot of people are drawn here by so many good things that to make access to those things difficult and uninviting, especially to anyone feeling lonely (we've all been there before or are, right?), in need of support (same deal), or who want to give something back (and pretty much everybody here does)- for this to be a less inviting place doesn't make sense to me. Hell, I wish I were wrong here but, ah, I dunno...

This is the New World. The site is meant to make it easier for the iPhone.
Who wants to read anything greater than 140 characters, these days? it's the way the world is turning... opinion is greater than fact. You can express an opinion in 140 characters... and you don't need to include the tons of stupid words needed to support your opinion with icky stuff, such as 'Fact' and 'Truth'. All i have to do is preface my opinion with, 'It's a Matter of Fact' (or IAMOF).

Oh. I'm so tempted to just to type "Fact"! Hahaha! But you're so right, Cosmo. The other feeling I get is that the site is geared based on the assumption that everyone wants to post on the run or on the fly. Dip in for a quick scan of threads. Drop a few words. Dash off to the next distraction, the next latte, the next quick fuck, the next fast sale. Hurry, we might miss something. Slow down? Never? Are you fucking crazy? We have to keep moving. Come on kids, grab your iPhone, get in the car, we're gonna be late!

I am a proud owner of a "dumb" phone. And I like it that way. I am not constantly preoccupied by a stupid gadget that dictates my entire life as we know it. I actually "LIVE LIFE" by owning a dumb phone. Viva being old-fashioned!

That said, I can't stand this new format. I will not go out and buy a stupid phone with a data plan because "everybody does it". And I won't continue to type because my eyes are now burning. BTW, how's your phone bill? ;)

"Dumb phone"- I love it! Yeah and the phone bill- whoa!- I can believe how much some of my friends and family shell out to "stay connected". We pay about half the average and have no trouble keeping in touch or accessing the internet.

Yeah, the public is bombarded with all this pressure to buy the latest gadget and despite the fact that several of the people I love and/or respect buy into these things I just can't see it. Lets honestly ask ourselves, which of these devises has really makes us feel happier or more fulfilled? Which truly save us time? Which really that much different from the next? I know I shouldn't start this kind of argument because gadget freaks and techies are dead set in there commitment to devices and have a right to their opinion but to me it's all just hype. But I'll throw this out anyway:

If modern electronics are so great, why are old tube guitar amps so highly prized at sought out? Why is a "vintage" Marantz stereo amp/tuner still the king of stereo equipment? Where is our Ansel Adams or Diane Arbus of the digital photography world? Why do people download their favorite music digitally when vinyl records blow them away sound wise? Why are we reading the entries to this forum on a format that is quite generally considered inferior to the last one we had?

Some of the apps I'll have available on the phone I'm getting will be very helpful in my profession. From upto the minute weather and road conditions to traffic and google street views to see how best to approach a customers location in my truck. Its primary function is a tool. then when I'm sitting on my mandated 30 minute break I can post inane bullshit here!! Win win for everybody!!!!

Break is a federally mandated idea that they say doesnt affect productivity , in the name of safety. Meaning , after I log on duty I cannot drive past hour 8 until I have been logged off duty for 30 minutes. Meaning its better for me to extend my day by 30 minutes , with no means to lay down and rest in my day cab, in the name of safety. Stopping during the unload of my trailer with the periods of no work involved in that arent cumulative , on paper I'm still on duty.

    THATS a break!

We always seem to have a lot to do at the store so I often forget or just refuse to stop working. But I can't complain because when you own your own business you only have to work half days AND you get to choose which 12 hours you wish to work! image

Public transportation is just far too inconvenient for the masses in our convenience-sensitive world. Unless you live right downtown in a major metro area with a dense population, it just doesn't make much sense.

I'd love to ride Public Transportation to work, but since I'm a bit outside of a small metro area, I'm stuck with driving somewhere to pick up a bus that only has limited route runs.

I want to go back to a phone that you had to press 2 three times to get a C when sending a text.

But that goes into my desire to reduce my online footprint this year. I was to become more of a ghost on the Internet.

dude ... the thread is about the new forum ... you actually responded like it was about public transportation ... i'm sorry - i thought it was funny ...

Yep, this thread was a little pun about how light the traffic became here after the format change. Despite the script options wonderfully offered by Mike, the site is still difficult to negotiate and read. Traffic here has picked up some but my opion of the new format hasn't change- it sucks.

Got it. I guess it is now time for me to confess that I did not read the first post at all, but instead took the thread title to heart and chimed in my (apparently) unwelcome .02 on what I thought was the subject at hand.

My apologies. Please continue on about how nobody comes to this message board anymore.

The ridership here still seems very light (or "lite") to me. Where's everyone go?
