Hopefully there will be a few more 1's on this list after tonight and tomorrow. I got a feeling that the boys are going shock us with something unreal in Chicago!

Let's hope you are right ... and that Ed remembers he was under the weather in '03 for St.Paul, Fargo, and Chicago, resulting in probably the only subpar Chicago show ever. Luckily for us they rebounded in a big way for Alpine Valley.

Although the United Center is a lame concert venue, I'm pumped for tonight. 10c seats are crap at UC unless your number is real high (I'm 201xxx) - usually back rows on floor ... so I swallowed my pride and bought better seats.

Tonight should be much better than '03.

...and if your name means anything "pjdeadhead" you've answered my frequent question of why more Deadheads haven't flocked to PJ. Not that I mind if they haven't, but NO current band has a touring aesthetic and fan following built as similarly as the Dead did it. Phish/DMB, my ass. Maybe they are closer musically, but not really. If the true Deadheads are looking for the only touring band in the same league, Pearl Jam is the only choice.

I prefer Pearl Jam's music by a longshot, but Pearl Jam also plays far more varied setlists. Since more than anything, PJ is defined as a touring band, I think their "peak" came AFTER acquiring Matt Cameron and they are in it right now. I know people get nostalgic about the early shows, but they are tighter now, better at their craft, and the song catalog is infinitely larger. I rarely buy into the "you shouldve seen the old days" mentality. If "old days" meant getting to see them in a small venue, then I agree. But Pearl Jam is in their prime right now ... well into their second decade.
