Ed should (please) cover Reckless at the Sydney Opera House

Ok I expect this request / ideas / plea thread to disappear onto page 65 by the time Ed gets here in February. But I talked about Ed covering this track before his last tour. Granted he covered One Country by the Oils from memory in Canberra, so it's time to bring out another classic Australia song.

For the uninitiated, James Reyne's solo album from 2005 has a ripping solo acoustic version.

I know Ed and the band loves their Australian music (I've spoken to Mike about Chisel and the Angels before). Between Ed solo and full band, they've covered ACDC, the Hunters, Nick Cave, Crowded House and probably more that I can't think of right now over the years and it's time to add Australian Crawl.

Crazy, was listening to reckless last night for some reason and thought 'man, this would be a great song for Ed to cover'.

I had a listen to the song and I agree that it would really suit Ed's voice .

I think the Opera House show is going to be a really special one . I'm really looking forward to it!

Good to see you agree, Emma. Glad it's not just me that thinks it would be a great cover.. would prefer it on acoustic, just like the Reyne version, but I won't be too fussy!

We’re super excited. The whole band is ready to go and we’ll be playing a full Pearl Jam set when we’re down there. Australia is such a beautiful place, a place where all of us have spent a lot of extra time before and after tours. I’ve done diving off Exmouth (WA)...we’re in the ocean all the time. We love Byron Bay, Bondi and Manly. There are so many great beaches and wonderful people. Everyone is really excited about going back there and re-experiencing the country.

Ed might take the ferry on the night of the Opera House show ;-).

I also heard the song playing in Coles the other day, so it must be a sign .

having said that, with the difficulty in getting tickets, is anyone actually going to the opera house gig??

I got my ticket in the presale ...I thought the SOH website would crash when all the tickets went on sale, so I'm glad I got a ticket before then.

I think we're in for a great show that night .

I still need to get a ticket for the show on the 12th though!

several times. my mate bought front row at melbourne 3 in 2003 on the day from ticketek. i bought 2nd row centre at eds feet on the day of the show for adelaide 1 in 2006 which were 2 rows better than my 10c pair. another mate or mine bought 3rd row centre at thebby for ed adelaide 1 in 2011.. my brother bought good seats on the day for 1D for his daughter this year.. you get the idea.

I've been checking ticketmaster and i'll keep on with it...I wonder if they are released first thing in the morning or any time (if extras will be released, that is!).
