Audio-Technica AT-LP120 Direct Drive (2012)
Sherwood Stereo Receiver (1982)
Jensen 3562 Digital floor speakers (1993)
Adding the Sherwood (dedicated phono input) took things to another level.
Just out of curiosity, why the older speakers and receiver? I know that some people like the older tuners but hasn't technology gotten better over the years?
I ask this because I want to upgrade to a VPI or maybe a Vega.

Speaker technology hasn't really changed a whole lot from what I understand

Sound and detail. Warmth on the low end - you'd have to come over to hear the difference between it and the 2000's Sony receiver I was using. The dedicated phono channel means I can turn off the built in pre-amp option on my turntable- which is nice I'm sure, but the electronics on the old receivers have a better pre-amp built in.

Only big difference is material, if they were quality back then and were taken care of then older speakers are fine.
Originally had Klipsch Icon Dual 8" hooked up but the DCM sound so much better. Don't get me wrong the Klpisch are great speakers but just aren't as warm and deep as the DCMs.
With the exception of the Turntable everything else is from the mid-late 70's - early 80's. IMO the older equipment just sounds better and I have a local electronics guys that has the best vintage equipment.

Since I just ordered my Rega RP1 with P.P., what are your thoughts about sound quality, etc.?
I sounds fantastic, no complaints whatsoever. You will probably need to play around with the tracking force to get it where it needs to be but once you find that sweet spot, look out. Enjoy!!

I am starting to look into the whole record player thing and have heard a lot of good things about u-turn audio. They got their start on kickstarter, make their turntables in the USA (MA) and have gotten excellent reviews so far and it only costs $179. Might be worth a look.

Sounds good to me too!

She's a beauty.
I also have a 1963 Philco High Fi that I play records on sometimes.

I just ordered one of those last week--it'll be here Friday. How do you like it so far? I know that cartridge has a pretty long break-in period.
