So what did Santa bring for everyone this year.

First year in a while I didn't get a ton on the gear front.

Couple matched pairs of some JJ 6V6's that I can never have enough of. Couple packs of my classic wound pure nickle ernie ball strings. A good friend of mine did get me a accordion sort of a inside joke, that is pretty awesome.

Also did sell one of my guitars, have one more to sell then I will get started on my Tele project I've been wanted to do for years.

My wife got me an American strat! So psyched! I also got a pack of Ernie Ball strings, a really nice tuner, and of course some PJ music. I'm pretty spoiled.

My wife got me a Mr. Beer kit years ago, which I liked for a while. I outgrew it though. Made some descent stuff. I never took the plunge into the next step of beer making. My father in law however makes his own beer, and wine. and won many country fairs etc... :D

to go with my Maz Jr. Never really messed with 10" speakers, but holy cow they sound great and the amp just totally sings with the cab.

Nice, What speaker is in that?

I'm at the point where I prefer 10's over 12's. And I'm starting to like 15's over 12's as well...

Right now all I have is a 2x10 closed back avatar cabinet with two Weber Legacys in them. They blew the orginal G10's out the water. Not that the G10's were bad.

They're Dr. Z's own design and I believe built by Eminence.

I just plugged in and let 'er rip for a short test yesterday. I had to take a step back. The change from 2 oversized open back 12" cabs to a closed back(which is convertible to open back) 2x10 was pretty drastic. The sound was totally different to what I'm used to, but a few tweaks to smooth out any rough edges and they were sounding great. Had a similar reaction to some Blues, but I really fell in love with them.

I'm guessing here, but the closed back really pushed out more amp overdrive than the open back I was using. The sustain was able to coax was on a whole other level as well.

Gonna give them a real workout after bit and I'll report back.

The only Eminence experience I've had was a Red Fang. When I first tried that thing out I thought it sounded like a million bucks. 20 or 30 hours later I was changing tubes, strings, pick up heights etc, couldn't figure out why things got harsh and bright. Turns out it was the speaker.
