If you have a BlackBerry and you have been wondering how the f87k you are going to grab your free download song after the show, I'll save you the trouble and inform you that yes, you are indeed f49ked. I just got off the phone with Verizon Wireless and they confirmed that not only does my BlackBerry Pearl not support VCAST (which I knew), but the http://www.pearljamconcerts.com website will also not work because it requires a Flash download that--surprise--is also not supported by the BlackBerry.

TenClub, I would like to thank you for the VZW partnership, but next time, it would be nice if everyone on the business and technology end of things could do their research in advance to ensure that ALL VZW customers with up-to-date Verizon Wireless equipment can take advantage of your offer. I feel very hosed on this one.

Thanks and peace. Guess I'll be buying my bootlegs.

Seriously? It's one song. Per show. On your phone. Would this seriously change whether or not you would buy the boots?

Yeah, I know there's three per show, but only one is free. The others are $1.99 each! I don't understand why you would even bother buying 3 songs for $6.00 when you can get the entire boot for about 10 bucks more. Esp. when you don't get to pick the 3 songs you want.

    Complain , complain, complain.

Damn I get sick of it.

I have a legitimate beef with this new deal, I think.
Unless I'm a 'tard and missed reading it somewhere. The FREE song is only FREE for a limited time after the show? I forgot to DL anything between the WPB and Camden II shows, mostly b/c I was busy with life. So I go to try and download just the free ones the other day, and All that's available is the Camden II, and nothing before it.
Can anyone tell me if I'm indeed a 'tard?
I know it's not the end of the world, but if a song's free, it should remain free.
    Sigh.

  • The free song is only available until the next concert. MSG 1's free song will probably be up tomorrow morning and only available free until the following morning, after MSG 2. Some free songs are available longer because of a gap in between cities. Hope this helps...

Of COURSE I'm still going to buy the boots. I'm just suggesting someone should have thought this through a little more thoroughly. I am in marketing and I used to work in wireless, so I know how those people usually think. I think someone at VZW simply dropped the ball with this one.

That does help, thank you. Now, was this info posted somewhere, or did you just gather it on your own? I just wish I'd known, because I would've been quicker to DL the free ones.

Ok, new problem has arisen. Not only aren't they up for longer than the next show taking place....but apparently there's a limit to how many you can DL before they try to force you to actually subscribe to VCast!
They filled me up on bread!!!

You just needed to do a little more research before buying a phone. A blackberry is not really for entertainment purposes. Its more of a business phone. I knew when I bought my Blackberry Pearl that I wouldnt be able to goto any sites that have FLASH (which is a lot), or quite a few other things that less expensive phones can do. Its not that your phone isnt "up-to-date", its just the wrong kind of phone for this stuff. 90% of Verizons customers can access the downloads.

Not trying to mean be here..I had the same frustrations at the beginning of my blackberry usage (it was even more limited than i originally thought). But in the end Im happy with the tradeoffs. I think its worth it.
