Thee Oh Sees go on indefinite hiatus

Last night, during a hometown San Fran show, John Dwyer announced it was the last Oh Sees show for a long, long time. Confirmed today by their publicist, Dwyer is moving to Los Angeles, Dawson to Santa Cruz, and the band is taking an indefinite hiatus. Fuckin' bummer, for sure. Who's with me?

    Damn...first The Walkmen, now these guys.

    Luckily Dwyer doesn't seem the type to stay away idle with his work..

    I was just enjoying myself, having a few cocktails, perusing the forum, when I read this thread title. My heart sank. God fuckin' dammit. Shitty ending to a shitty day. Best band out there presently. This sucks.

    Ok, not all doom and gloom...

    Update, Dec. 20: Thee Oh Sees have posted a note to their website saying that they are "not breaking up," just going through a "transitional period," that they will release a new LP in early 2014, and that "we will see where the live show goes from there." Read it below:

    DEAR OH SEES FANS,
    THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR SUPPORT.
    THE BAND IS NOT BREAKING UP.
    THIS IS JUST A WELL DESERVED BREAK AND A TRANSITIONAL PERIOD.
    A NEW THEE OH SEES LP WILL BE OUT EARLY 2014
    AND WE WILL SEE WHERE THE LIVE SHOW GOES FROM THERE...
    UNTIL THEN, BE WELL
