What's the best place to start with these guys? Somehow I never listened to them before, but I stumbled upon the J. Mascis station on Spotify recently and really like what I've heard so far.
I wish I was as fortunate, as fortunate as me.

'Bug', 'You're Living All Over Me', and then move to 'Where You Been'.

Kinda think you need to edit the title of this thread to: Dinosaur Jr - Starting to Really Live All Over Me

I really dig their last two efforts as well... Farm and I Bet on Sky...

It's because of J. Mascis that I suffer from a mild case of tinnitus...Dude blew out my eardrums in Tempe in 2009...Never fully recovered...

  • I really fell for I bet on sky, was a great album that really got me back into them after not caring so much for a while. saw them when they were over here in aus at the beginning of the year too, very tight as a band
I don't mean to offend anyone, a lot of what I say should be taken with a grain of salt... that said for most of you I'm a stranger on a computer on the other side of the world, don't give me that sort of power!

I like your thread title suggestion, very clever.
Yeah I read that Dinosaur Jr are very loud live and people with earplugs still suffer.

Anywhere is a safe starting point with Dino Jr.... They don't have one album that I would skip... Even the solo stuff and other projects are worth checking out, especially J's..

  • In the last two days I have purchased:

    You're Living All Over Me
    Bug
    Where you been
Bug - Live at the 9:30 club - In the hands of the fans (dvd)

    Amazing!
J Mascis is an awesome guitarist, very quiet man, hardly speaks.

Nice!... Yeah, and when he does speak it sounds like he has a bad head cold..

Check out Heavy Blanket for some more J awesomeness.

  • Is J Mascis autistic or depressed? In all his interviews he's really mellow.
Just watching some interviews on YouTube....
    Learning about the band....

The guitar is brilliant but I really don't dig the vocals. I'll check out the recommendations listed in this thread, though. And I really like "Never Bought It". Great song.
It's a disease and they're all green, it emanates from their being...

You should get their first album 'Dinosaur' too. It'll take you a while to get used to, but it's a great album. 'The Leper' is a great song. Here it is in session: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ovtwK2PRWVo

    Play this muthafucker loud!
