was thinking.......

what does falla sheep mean/represent?

I have my own idea

What do they mean/represent to you?

The first person to respond on this thread -NOT PM- that has relatively the same perception as I do will receive a free Falla sheep (yes free shipping too)

It is an opened blind box so I know the colour but it will essentially be like a blind box for you since I won't tell you the colour that I am sending.

I will post the winner on this thread along with my perception of falla sheep.

Thanks

I thought they were an icon representing the way people should be on alert for covert messaging and movements. It's kind of like the names of Super-Pacs...you can't disagree with an organization called Parents for Community Safety...until you realize they fund a AZ State Senator pushing legislation to allow armed citizens on school campuses.

  • Sheep in wolves clothing,
  • I think what the sheep represent is that people who want change need to take a hard line, be organized, and be as united a front as an organization that they don't necessarily agree with, such as the NRA.
The seven colours represent everyday people, who are represented by the sheep, that have become untied, and are acting as wolves to accomplish their goals.

a play on a wolf in sheep's clothing.

Since sheep are typically followers, a sheep in wolf's clothing is trying to break away from the mold of being a follower. Toting a gun, it kind of reminds me of members of the NRA, they all are for gun rights yet they don't really understand all the complexites of gun ownership. Once the media mentions 'gun safety' they are all up in arms with 'right to bear arms'.

Trying to be 'different', but underneath the exterior, they are merely 'followers'.

(I hope that makes sense...I'm delirious with the amount of cold meds I have been taking as of late... )
The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun.

  • or maybe the sheep... failing to act responsibily by blindly falling in line and not questioning authority... become the wolf.

I thought that to be in politics anymore you have to be a wolf to get any kind of following, ie doing the wrong thing to get voters. Even though at heart you're a sheep and care about doing the right thing for people, we all know this gets you no where in politics.

I'm sure the NRA comes into this too, somewhere, probably anti nra, haven't thought that part out yet...
Wouldn't it be funny if the world ended in 2010, with lots of fire?

For those that were at Ed's solo tour in Oakland in 2011, (first night), Ed told a story about VS being recorded and being out during the sessions: mentioned one sheep lost but eventually being hearded back after being stuck. He mentioned, ( and I Paraphrase)," never fuck with sheep cause they are smart and have feelings." Hence, the theme for the VS cover I think. My own personal opinion, is that sheep are animals and represent the idea/ or metaphor of going in for protection, yet saving others in an analogy sense. the guitar shaped like a gun represents danger is still ahead, but safety will always be there, and that's what a lot of bands write about, what goes on in the real world. The band is "herding" their fans to educate and make positive choices on negative things that have/ will happen. Basically be strong, no matter what. In a human sense, It's a metaphor of looking out for yourself, as tragedy is still bound to happen. Music Metaphorically, represents issues in the real world, both, good and bad, and how to struggle with it. Metaphors do send deep messages on all subject matters.

Thanks for the chance, awesome of you to offer this great gift of generosity up. :D

I think there's a lot of message in the 'save the wolves' slogan.

I think the sheep are trying to show the wolves, which I believe are a metaphor for those lacking compassion, what they look like, or how they are perceived. They are trying to save them by being a reflection of how they are behaving, and showing them they could live a kinder way.
I think the heart on the gun then represents that instead of destroying them, they can still be redeemed to live more compassionately.

    Cheers!

I like your response because it reminded me of a concert I went to a long time ago.
You are now a proud recipient of a Falla Sheep because of the last line in your post ,
"to live more compassionately" rhymes with a fantastic concert I went to where EV changed his lyrics to say "mmm, free the west Memphis three"

A Falla sheep is still available to a person who shares relatively the same opinion as I do about them.

Interesting to see so many completely different opinions on one thing.

    Cheers
  • I think this exemplifies the message in Mind Your Manners. Don't be a passive sheep and don't be apathetic. In this day and age, people need to take action.
  • The sheep need to save the wolves from themselves.

Dress as a wolf and change the system! Get the other wolves on board.

Not many responses to this thread.

    I'm surprised.

There must be more opinions of the Falla Sheep than there is responding.

A Falla Sheep offered to you if your opinion is relatively the same as mine.
