A witness to a massive dead tree.

After spending three hours trying to get unstuck in snow and ice today, my wife and I treated ourselves to lunch. We took a warm seat by a window that was letting some warming sun thaw us out. And then it rolled by, right out the window like a slow motion death march: a big logging truck with the corpse of one tree stacked in three segments- one BIG motherfucking (once) beautiful monster of a tree- a recently slaughtered old-growth elder from a forest somewhere nearby. I've seen many a dead tree on logging trucks but never one this big and majestic. It made me sick to see.

I looked at Celia and said, "When I see something like that I hate the whole fucking human race." I'm sorry I said that because it's not true but, damn, do people really still commit these murderous acts? I guess some do. :(

As a Canadian I have to say, WTF! Three hours????!!! ;)

Maybe the tree was diseased or got knocked down by the weight of the snow? At least you don't see em hauling those big ones out all the time.

The poison from the poison stream caught up to you ELEVEN years ago and you floated out of here. Sept. 14, 08

George Carlin, Kurt Vonnegut and Sherman Alexie come to mind as people I know of who can make anything seem funny without being disrespectful to the things that aren't inherently funny. They're the kind of people who can make you laugh and at the same time be righteously pissed and say "fuck yeah." I have no clue how they do that so well.

Seeing that tree was just heartbreaking. I guess it's possible it fell but it looked healthy- no core rot and we've had no wind for days. Old growth trees still get cut in California- not like they used to but it still happens. I'll never understand it.

Yes, even flow, three hours! Our drive way is a long, slopping and curved and it was a sheet of ice under snow. Even with 4 wheel drive we just slid right off and got stuck and the towing service was tied up with people stranded all over the place. We've had an unusually freeze that started Saturday, thawed a little and then refroze hard.

Yah. It's from a movie (can't remember which one). In the proper context, or as a stand alone, it could serve as excellent humour. I'm just curious to know how it fit with what Brian wrote?

I'm thinking if I post a Family Guy clip with Peter Griffin wiping his booger on Meg (while telling her he's proud of her) in a random thread... does this constitute being funny?
