Midlake

So I have been listening to these guys for a few years (maybe 4-5?). Really dug "The Trials..." but didn't love "The Courage of Others." Still was excited when they were announced as opener for my 1 show this tour in OKC. They were fucking awesome. Every person I talked to thought they were "pretty cool" to "wow those guys kick ass!" after the OKC show. Couple of my buddies have since been interested in getting some of their stuff. Well, the other night they played here in STL at The Old Rock House, a small club with probably less than 100 people. They were awesome again! Talk to the band afterwards, super nice guys. Said it was completely surreal opening for Pearl Jam.
Anyway, the new album "Antiphon" is really good. I highly suggest checking it out. Has a much more melodic, experimental Pink Floyd/Radiohead/Flaming Lips/Jim James feel to it than the other records.
Anybody else see this show in STL??

I thought Midlake was very good. I will be getting their newest album. I'm assuming that's where most of their set opening for PJ came from.PJ: 10/14/00 06/09/03 10/4/09 11/15/13 11/16/13 10/08/14

I've only heard the title track off their new album but found it enjoyable albeit a tad repetitive.http://www.audiohammock.com - Rock, Indie, and Electronic reviews, news, and the AudioHammock podcast.

"Roscoe" from Trials of Van Occupanther is the song that hooked me initially. After that album I didn't love the next record Courage of Others. I'm digging the new record (Antiphon) a lot though.djklambake wrote:I'm really trying to like Midlake...just not making a connection with anything (so far)... "Rulers, Ruling All Things" is the song that got me hooked.
This isn't the official video (it's footage taken from an old film) but it really suits the song:

Does someone happen to know the Dallas or OKC set for Midlake? They played a few songs that I am trying to find.
Thanks.
