Sooner or later we have to face the likelihood (nice I avoided the word "fact" ) that reducing our energy consumption and lowering our population are the most logical steps in the right direction.
One of my cousins has worked in environmental law for many years. For the last several years he has studied energy. When I saw him at Thanksgiving he talked with great concern about the massive solar power arrays going up in the desert. He explained how these arrays are having a disastrous affect on desert ecosystems. I asked him what he believed to be the best solution to energy and he said beside reducing usage and lowering population, the best solution is small localized energy production (including residential and commercial roof-top solar) rather than large widespread energy grids. This fits well with what many have said about the wisdom of moving toward local economies.

Yes it deals a lot with noise. Worth the watch I think.

P.S: And all that happened because I felt really happy to share an interesting - in my humble opinion - link (with a likelihood of generating discussion) with fellow Pearl Jammers.
P.S1: I don't have any kind of interest in promoting that organisation or that specific documentary. I just found the facts and views presented therein interesting, that's all. I wanted to share that new thing that I learnt with the community here.
P.S2: In the past, a lot of people thanked me - I'm really grateful for that - because I posted something in 2-3 different places (threads) and as a result they were able to read/watch/listen to it. I know that a lot of members cannot afford to be online all the time. So they're going to learn something new, only if they're lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time. Why deny them the chance? That's why I said it's weird. Because I don't know how often you're here, but you said you were lurking around and you happened to notice (though you don't know me at all) something "strange" about my behaviour (yes I was in a mood to share yesterday). I just posted the link. I didn't try to push my ideas or anything like that. The only comment was that I found it thought-provoking. Now please excuse me, but I need to meet the producers to discuss my percentage. -> sarcasm
And no, I don't know you at all compared to some other posters. So sarcasm may not have been the best way to approach that. Was it that offensive? If it was, I'm sorry.
