MP3 File sizes 2013 Bootlegs

Hi,
I just bought the Pittsburgh bootleg as a MP3 file. Description promises a 256 kbit/s file size. After unzipping the average file size is just188kbit/s, one song just 144kbit/s (MFC). Even vbr doesn’t compress that much...Seems to me that this is bootleg is offered in an average 192 kbit/s. That's not the quality I intended..
(The whole file size of the concert is 203mb.)

Tenclub insists they are in 256.. :(

Anyone for a similar experience?

Thanks
Alex

I hope someone with more knowledge than me will chime in on this. Was planning on buying the two Worcester mp3's tomorrow...

I think the OP is confusing file size & Bit rate.

I cannot answer your question, and I do not consider myself an audiophile or whatever, but I bought the Pitt boot in FLAC and Buffalo boot in MP3, and unless the Pitt show was just way better, than the extra 5 bucks for FLAC was way worth it because I think the Pitt one sounds 100 times better than Buffalo. But again, maybe its just me.
words seem so out of place.

    Mhh,

sorry, my technical Englisch was not quite correct in this case  :

the promised bit rate or compression rate of the bootlegs offered as mp3 are 256 kbit/s, but after unzipping the
folder the average bit rate is 188 kbit/s in average per song-file.

The size of the whole "Pittsburgh" Folder is about 203mb.
In comparison, the 2010 Bristow (offered in256kbit/s as well) bootleg with a similar number of Songs and length of the concert is about 250mb, that's much bigger.

So the promised bootleg Quality of the Pittsburgh Show is definitely not 256.

    What about the Buffalo boot?

    What about the Buffalo boot?

The other fellow here is confusing audio mixing with bit rate by comparing his flac pitts and mp3 buffalo. The buffalo boot is not mixed as well as pitts, that why his flac sounded so different. Most people (Im talking a huge majority) are not going to be able to tell a difference between 256 mp3 and flac unless they have a very critical ear and are using higher dollar equipment.

Anyways, I bought my mp3 Pittsburgh off Nugs and it is an average of 180 bit rate as well. BUT I can safely say the Worcester boots are 256, apparently 10c fixed the issue. I was surprised too that that the pitts boot was lower bit rate, but it still sounds quite nice for a lower bit rate. I couldn't even tell until I saw the actual number the other day by chance. It is a very good compression and sounds very much on par with 256 in my ears.

    Worcester 1 sounds awesome!

Worcester 2 is not playing the files that should be on disc 2 - from Encore Break 1 on. I have contacted 10C.

So strange. I have downloaded twice and they still do not work. Will try again from my home computer this evening.
