going to the trees tomorrow & listening to black sabbath. snow covered beauties now even more beautiful. shopping is geared after thanksgiving to irritate manure out of cattle. not for me, i'll be in the magical forest dining on a winter's picnic w/ a thermos of black coffee & a tupperware fulla broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, peaches, chia seeds, mushrooms, spinach & walnuts....... wait, i've no peaches nor water melon. take a notebook, dictionary & three different colored pens & one pencil... write a bit of something that feels good on the toes & tongue when reading aloud

At this point it's more like black November. I think there should be a law that stores that have black Friday sales shouldn't be open until 5:00am Friday morning. For the past 10 years, my wife has left for black Friday shopping earlier and earlier. It's to the point now where she's leaveing at 6:00pm Thursday evening. I don't like at all that shes out all night with money and gifts. I can't go be suss most of the time I have go work. It's a safety issue that needs to be addressed.

'Tis the Season to Be... Wasteful?

The upcoming holiday season represents a high point for shopping and consumer spending. Lamentably, it also represents a major increase in waste, which is shown to be detrimental to the environment. From Thanksgiving to the New Year, we generate 25 percent more waste than average.

What do we consume over the holidays?

    • 125,000 tons of plastic packaging
    • 744 million holiday cards
    • 8,000 tons of wrapping paper

The wrapping paper alone is the equivalent of approximately 50,000 trees, an indication that holiday waste is nothing to scoff at. With so much of this waste being a by-product of shopping for and sending gifts, let's look at perhaps the biggest culprit of it all: Black Friday.

I have a beautiful day off from work after a holiday. I don't have to cook dinner tonight because I have a full dinner left-over from what I made yesterday.

The last thing I want to do is spend the day with a bunch of bargain hunters in a crowded store!!

It's more a reflection of the times, people are struggling ... so this is chance for people to get things that they might not be be able to buy ...

People are struggling so they go shopping for things they don't need???
That doesn't make much sense to me.

Black Friday is a disgusting corporate gimmick. I'd rather spend that precious time with my family and friends.

Here in Canada we are now plagued by Black Friday ads and sales, despite the fact that our Thanksgiving is in October so we don't have a holiday on either the Thursday or the Friday. Seems we got the worst of both worlds.
