Sirens is a great song, I recognize that. It just doesn't do it for me like so many other pj songs.
Same with amongst the waves. It feels like they are "trying to sound like pj" and feels forced. More Atw than sirens.
But again I can't deny it's a great song and an amazing piece of music.
I agree with everything you said somewhat witch is why Lightning Bolt is the best song on the record. Because it is classic PJ without any forced feel.

Live tho, LB really cooks around the same time it fades out on the lp. That end jam just has that "true pearl jam" sound that no one can emulate.
