My ire with radio these days re: PJ

I was listening to 89X the alternative rock station here in Detroit/Windsor, Ontario. A dude called in asking them to play some Pearl Jam for him. They were happy to fulfill his request.

Me, driving in my car to work anticipating something current from PJ, the DJ blasts out 'Even Flow'.

What.in.the.fuck?

Why do they do this? Do radio stations only have 'Ten' and 'Vs' on their roster, or are they just lazy and think playing vintage PJ will appease all radio listeners at that moment?

I hate that.

And that's why some people still think that PJ are one hit wonders. If they don't have any PJ albums or basically keep up on the music scene and know that PJ have released 6 albums after those, plus a billion boots, then all they know is what the radio plays.

It's not fair! So what that PJ is not as radio-friendly as the RHCH (whom I love also), but still, it's retarded!!! Help promote PJ by playing their newer stuff, if at least just out of respect.

I was in Tampa this past week, and I was thinking I might know why the 10 Club tickets didn't sell out for that show. For the five days I was there, I was flipping between the two rock stations, and never once heard a pearl jam song. I am not kidding when I say I heard the Foo Fighters every time I was in the car, but not once did I hear PJ. So I could see how a show wouldn't sell well if the city's radio stations pretend like a band doesn't exist.
words seem so out of place.

Pearl Jam isn't like Led Zeppelin where every song on every album is in radio rotation....no band is

WBCN in Boston has a pretty good rotation of PJ songs from Ten, Vs., Vitalogy, No Code, and Yield. Hardly anything from Binaural or Riot Act, though, since those weren't very popular mainstream-wise. They played stuff off the avocado album when it came out, but not so much anymore. Not sure why. WBCN streams online if feel like tuning in. :)

the problem is the dude just asked for some Pearl Jam.

when i have called in i have always requested a specific song.

89x has been pretty good throughout the years at playing stuff other than Ten and Vs...

first place i heard Hard To Imagine, State of Love And Trust, Let Me Sleep, Hard Sun, Felicitys Surprise...

On this station, I have heard 3 live Pearl Jam songs

    including Crown Of Thorns

This is the station you should check out if you live in this area

You'll never go back to that shite on 89X
