    This was the first song that stuck in my head when I finally started spinning LB. That chorus is just a great bouncy kind of thing.

    I love it to. And I love the lyrical references to the poem in Vitalogy ("work of art") and our dependence on the transmittal of DNA that to some scientists explain all our behaviour. I think that this song, Release, Rearviewmirror and maybe even Nothingman and Betterman - tell a nice interconnected tale.

    Yes it did sound awful that night so maybe that's why it was cut from most future sets

    They will play it again. May rehearse a bit before though. But from all songs on LB, the lyrics on this one has me mesmerized.

    I would think this song might end up being the most under appreciated which is a shame as to me it is the DTE of today. I mean that it is just enough off kilter to throw people off of it until they hear it enough times to let it get under their skin and then boom! It's on like Donkey Kong! I love the way LB starts with the first 3 songs.

    I like, lyric wise, how they play with old themes here (father/son relationships; even the poet "work of art") and give a complete different twist on it. This song is lyrically the dark version of Release...

    Super, super dark. The mother (I think) is a whore (she never got top dollar but she gave us all a start). The father is a psycopath. The son is next in line.

    When I heard there was going to be a song on the new album called "My Father's Son" my initial reaction was "aw, how sweet." Then I heard it and was like, 'Holy shit this is dark." I like it when art throws you curve balls.

    Some songs are ignored at first and then make comebacks years later. I have a feeling that is what will happen with MFS.

    I hope they get it figured out for the European tour.
    This song in a good delivery would be great.
    I think it's absolutely one of the best tracks on Lightning bolt.
    It would be a shame if it would remain a studion track.
    It's not who I am underneath, but what I do that defines me.

    I don't think it will. It will have its comeback for sure. I hope they play more LB songs in Europe however as they are doing in Australia right now. Build it up. Take your time. I rather have 31 songs than the 24 I heard numerous times...

    I reckon the European tour will look different from the Aussie tour as those were all fastival gigs.
    Should you not get your wish forfilled to hear more Lightning bolt songs that would seriously surprise me.
    I just hope I will get to see My fathers son and that it will sound good.
    I will go and see if there is some footage from the aussie take on you tube right now. Lets see how it sounded there.
