Security Throwdown 4 Bootlegging

Did anyone else see anyone get thrashed by security in Chicago for trying to record the show last night? I was in the orchestra, BB, and some kid got busted pretty hard 1/2 through the 1st set.

I think he was trying to record at least part of the show with his camera. Security guard took his camera, and then him and his buddies were in the aisle with the guard and it got pretty heated. At least the security guy was yelling.

F$&k, I was going to try and sneak a taperecorder in too. Any helpers on this one, pretty damn good show. I have heard a copy of one of the shows on the West Coast, and the audio didn't do seeing it live justice.

I had the misfortune of sitting in front of a security guard all night. Right when Ed came on the head of security came around and told them absolutely no cameras. If your recorder doesn't have light on it you should be fine. That was all they were looking for. I saw a few people get taken out just in my little section. But it seemed that if you were in the middle, you may be pretty safe with a camera but you never know.

If Ed doesn't want the show recorded, don't record it

and why would you want to spend the time worrying about a recording of a show you would probably enjoy more if you just sat back and actually watched it AS IT WAS HAPPENING IN FRONT OF YOUR VERY EYES, instead of trying to focus a camera on

    i'll never understand that

there was NO Mention that I saw of no Cameras. However one woman who looked to have an iPhone (my wife tried hers and the photo didn't come out) meaning no flash but big screen was literally manhandled by a security guard going for her phone. I was shocked it was so rough with no warning. He was huge, she was not. They were a bit far away but I saw it play out. She came back in a song later. I thought it was pretty dumb. VERY FEW flashes throughout the night.

Exactly... why pay about $100 to experience this apparently great tour through a 3 inch viewfinder.....

FYI- no one in this thread is talking about audio recordings of the show... the OP stated someone was trying to video record with his camera and security RIGHTLY took the camera.

No, I was a DC 1 and experienced it first hand, with my very own two eyes

I’m not the fanatical fan that believes I need to see/hear everything Ed and or PJ do, especially when they don’t want it out there

Amen! If you didn't get to see the show, TFB. It's not for us to say what should be videotaped & what shouldn't. "Artist's discretion" doesn't count for much on this thread.

  • All I know is that Ed is adamant about no one recording or video recording the shows. They have a no audience recording policy. Damn shame security has been that harsh as some describe though, as that seems against Ed's nature but these are small venues and a very personal thing so change comes about in these atmospheres. I personally do not see the issue with abiding by Ed's wishes though. I also think he has something in store for us after the tour is over. Be safe folks.

funny how PJ had an about face on DVD boots to the point where it became definitely A OK to give out a few boxes of 50 at/for a fund raiser, and the ability to trade them here, and allowing them to be torrented...ALL shows that were video'd, by fans for fans, AGAINST the bands wishes. weird...

but i guess you don't own any PJ DVD boots. that is a shame.

I love the band, no doubt, but I also respect people's wishes. I don't think it's too much ask.

It seems like it would be easy enough to get an audio copy of the show, if you wanted.

Just take your recorder, keep it low, and be discreet.

A video copy ... that takes some balls.
everybody wants the most they can possibly get
for the least they could possibly do
