I'll tell ya that I really appreciate those amazing US Pearl Jam fans who make it over hear to Europe to see the band play....why.....because......

The European Trade Unionists Report out today referred to-

"The US is the only western country where employees have no statutory leave and in reality only then get about half as much time off as Europeans.

Me! I took 7 days paid leave to visit Paris last September and see PJ play, then just last week saw them in The Netherlands, another paid 7 days there.

Guess the down side might be that they have only toured here 4 times since 1996. Oops, just incredible that they got here 2006 and 2007!

Don't forget, the dollar is sucking hard against the Euro ... damn if that trip wasn't an expensive one too ..

    but, well worth it!

Heh, to think I split my 32 days of leave into 2 blocks for the Aussie 06 and Euro 07 tours. Just as well the tour ended there, cos I'd run out of days :)

I missed out on PJ in Europe because of work! Ugh. Our vacation policy really does suck.

Heard they were great -- can't wait for Lollapalooza!!

Yes - I'm glad I was able to make it to Europe despite our crappy American work schedules.
My advice to any American considering going abroad to see a show - DO IT!!

man, that's a lot of days...

I get 15 work days off (so 3 weeks total), and that is a luxury... in most places it is 10 workdays off.

after 5 years in one same place, you get 5 more workdays off and so on...

I've been retired from my job as a NYC firefighter for 3 years now. No more fuck'n work for me ever again! Time to enjoy the rest of my life traveling the world (married a flight attendant) and seeing PJ. Saw PJ 4x in the states last year and then in Athens on our Greece trip. Just got back from Amsterdam, Brussels and Paris; saw PJ in Nijmegen & Worchter and already looking forward to the next time PJ visits europe. See you all then.
So, What you Giving ?........ (Thanks Speedy, Alesek, & Arq+friends)
    What You Giving

I suggest you step out on your Porch.
Run away my son. See it all. Oh, See the World!

I did meet a nice chunk of Europeans who were doing the entire tour
i found that rather refreshing. I'm with 1Vedhead if you are an American
and have even the smallest interest of seeing Pearl Jam abroad just go
for it. I think if i thought about it longer i would have found a way to talk
    myself out of it.
I am so glad i didint.

It's really 20 days, but we get an extra day off each month, and we can save up to 5 of these at one go.

It's funny, I think I discussed this situation in just about every city I visited on this Europe trip (6 cities in 11 days)... I'm lucky in that I've been with Sony for 10 years, so I qualify for 4 weeks per year, but a lot of people here in the US only get 2 weeks. But, that being said, I'm basically DONE with my vacation for this year after this trip (and another week off for "Burning Man" in August!). I can't even afford to take a couple days off to go to Lollapalooza! CRAP!! But, it was totally worth taking the time (and spending that weak American dollar!) for the experience I had! Thanks to everyone that I met and even those that I didn't meet that provided advice via the boards! Hope we can meet again on another tour!
