I've found that not only is it difficult for some people to detect a difference, but it also may require some practice. I can easily detect when an MP3 is below 256 without even trying, but I only use mid-to-high end headphones. Detecting a difference on a standard pair of buds is going to be difficult. FLAC is music without the compression restraints of the MP3 form, and to some it is absolutely worth it. If you don't have the gear for it, however, and you generally have difficulty detecting any difference, it might not be worth it for you.

The pessimist in me is thinking that by not releasing them all until January (and then hopefully the Big Day Out stuff), maybe they're keeping us distracted...longer wait until another tour announcement? Maybe some sort of European announcement in March after the Big Day Out stuff is released?
We shall see.

Every Friday they play a different PJ LB Tour show on XM and not until the following Wednesday is the boot available for purchase? They aren't releasing them all at once, it's one per week yes?
I know this is a first world problem but this means several boots might not be available before the holidays to give as gifts....bummer.
Happy we are getting them, hopefully they release every show and don't pick and choose.
If one per week, we're looking to at least 3 months to complete only the 1st leg.
They did this last year with the Euro tour.
I don't mind this, I'll just pick up a few boots every couple of weeks.

Depends what you're listening with. With your laptop's speakers or on your iphone w/stock headphones it would be tough to tell the difference. With a decent pair of headphones or a mid-level hi-fi setup you'll start hearing the difference. A visual analogy would be looking at a low resolution jpeg photo on your computer. When you try to zoom in, it gets all pixelated because information is missing. that's the same as an mp3. with a higher resolution photo, you can blow it up as large as your screen and it maintains all of the details and texture and contrast. that's what you get with a high res music file that's 24 bits / 96 k.
Buying the high res flac files will future proof anyone who might put a few bucks into a good stereo down the road. And you can always buy high res now & convert the files "down" to mp3 or apple lossless using XLD for free.
Based on the information provided, we are looking at Wednesday, January 22nd, for the Baltimore show to be released... aaarrrrrggggghhhhhhh! Guess it's better late than never... :-)

Right... to me, FLAC's are well worth it. When I really want to jam out, I go off and listen a Pioneer Elite/ Def Tech setup and the difference between an Mp3 and FLAC are night and day. Maybe the smartest move (if you are patient) is buy the cds and then rip them yourself with a high quality WAV/FLAC producer. I am using Squeezebox to play across my house, but I don't know if that supports the high res FLAC. I know Sonos doesn't, so have to be aware of that if going high end.

I'm assuming order that the shows occurred, so Pitt released first. I have no insider info- its just how they've done it in the past.
