I recall I didnt get into this song until much later...I had my headphones on and I was running along the ocean and it hit me like a ton of bricks.
Jack was the man! I mean, we're blessed to have Matt Cameron for the past 15 years, but I often wonder how PJ would have evolved if Jack were still around. (Or even moreso, had he been around since the beginning.)

I think the same things buddy... And I was surprised to hear Pendulum for the first time and think to myself, "hmm I think maybe Matt was listening to some No Code recently."
The line that stuck out at me immediately, which i remembered from my first listen, and you can almost hear it is "punched in" or otherwise an over emphasized vocal take is ...
original version, just after the line
"take me for a ride, before we leave" is:
"circumstance, clapping hands"
Very clearly, the original, he says "circumstance".
Now go listen to the RVM version.
I don't know what the fuck he is saying, sounds like "avalanche" mixed with "ambulance"
"avalanche, falling fast" ? i don't really know. it ain't the original vocal take for that line though.
right? or am i cracking up here?
And, having just finished the comparison myself now, apparently (to my ears anyway) that is the *only* change. ?tried slowly going through playing a piece of each together. That was all i came up with. The one edit. Why would Eddie feel the need to change that?
?
If I was to smile and I held out my hand
If I opened it now would you not understand?

I am usually the first one to notice these things.. Will give it another go.

So weird that he changed that... thanks for the analysis. I'm going to listen with headphones and see if I can pick out any other differences...
i was absolutely blown away when they blew the dust off of this one back in 2008. i think i shit a brick when they played it in camden. two great shows if you ask me, i think only what, 6 repeats over the two nights. what a great run!
it's largely due to eddie that i liked to jump off of things as a child...

I was lucky to catch the last two performances of this song.
My first thought was "that song has been played a ton recently". Then I realized I was just at 6 of the above shows.
lol, only once in the last 5 years (Alpine), tho a bunch in '08, which is cool.
The MSG '08 clip sounds pretty good. This was a song i always wrote off after Jack left. It's a Jack song (and i love Jack's playing, so that's a compliment), and Jack songs else get rearranged significantly (GTF) or fall off and disappear for the most part (Who you are, In my Tree). But i could definitely see them playing this now. From what i can tell, not having seen this tour but judging by clips and everyone's response, they have really been super tight this tour. So i could see them pulling the arrangement together just a bit more and maybe squeezing this one in late 1st set, or leading out of the more acoustic encore.

Yeah, man. All 08. Crazy they don't play it more often
Wow, I had no idea it was so rare as I've seen 4 of those 10 performances.
Bring it back!
