    Neil Young: "Transformer Man"

A song often criticized for use of vocoder but as stated elsewhere,

he felt that distorting his voice reflected his attempts to communicate with his son. "At that time he was simply trying to find a way to talk, to communicate with other people. That's what Trans is all about. And that's why, on that record, you know I'm saying something but you can't understand what it is. Well, that's exactly the same feeling I was getting from my son."
Clancy, Chris. "From the Vault: Neil Young." Money, September 2, 2010, McDonough, Jimmy, Shakey. p 552.

    A cool live version:

“The fear of death follows from the fear of life. A man [or woman] who lives fully is prepared to die at any time.”
Variously credited to Mark Twain or Edward Abbey.

  • The Beatles - Rocky Raccoon
One of my favorite tunes, I know it is sort of a silly song but I think it doesn't get recognized as a good song. (Especially because it was released on The White Album.)

    Black Sabbath - Sweet Leaf
Just love it. Never seem to hear anyone else rocking it/listing it when talking about BS. Grew up on heavy 70s music and this was one of my favorites. The subject of the song was especially near and dear to me.

    Anything by Electric Eel Shock
They never made it big in the States. I saw them live 2x and thought they were ridiculously fun.
Singer was a total wise ass and his Japanese sarcasm came through in his English lyrics. Drummer played with a sock over his schlong a-la-Chili Peppers and used two sticks in each hand.
