CCSU Lockdown

I saw they locked down the university and have some people in custody...for what though? Apparently since the story is no longer on the NBC.com main news page, it was just a giant misunderstanding involving a Halloween costume???
Granted, I know it seems like there is an 'active shooter' incident once a week somewhere in the US now, but man, its sad that our nation is living in such fear now.
Yes, events like Columbine and 9/11 were tragic, but we have to keep on living life.
Besides the bad guys, we now live in a world with too many trigger happy police, and that's not cool.

I'm sorry but if you're older than the age of 12 and dressing up for Halloween (which was last fucking Thursday by the way), you're an asshole.
Rant over
I guess people are going to have to use common sense a bit more in what they carry with them.
The times, they have-a changed.
There was a young kid out here in No. California who was walking with a pellet gun made to resemble an assault rifle; police, thinking it could be real as it looked as such, told him to drop it. He wouldn't, and they shot him. Of course there are some within our police forces who may jump the gun (so to speak), but many more don't. And in this case, I don't think they did. Then again, I'm thankfully not in their shoes.
Wanna play with these types of toys? Do it at home, fer chrissakes. Put it in a bag or backpack. Don't make it APPEAR as if you're actually armed. The kid probably didn't know any better; his parents should've.
Anyway, I'm glad this particular incident in Connecticut turned out benign.
