Anyone grab this yet?

I really liked the concept of Rocksmith, however, it needed a release and real life use by the public to work out some issues. It had many design and application flaws.

The second release fixed a great deal of the issues and is very good. They also decided to gear the game more toward being a learning tool as opposed to disguising it as a video game. The lessons are much better, and more broad. They added a couple modes such as session mode which lets you play in scales with 'back-up' instruments that follow your lead. The most important thing is the Riff Repeater, which is pretty much 100% customizable and easy to jump into at any time.

  • Good to know. I was thining about picking this up. I consider my self to be an intermediate player and I'd like something to help me practice. I watched all the videos on the website and it looked good. Good review. Thanks.
I'll ride the wave where it takes me.

There is also another game coming out in a couple weeks called Bandfuse.

It looks like it is much more in-tune with a transition to tab

I've been playing guitar for a little over a year and just got this game. I love it! It's a nice change of pace from sitting around practicing scales and such. I don't think I would like it as much if I had never picked up a guitar before. Basic knowledge of chords, strumming, and a few scales helps. It probably isn't for 20 year veterans either, not sure though.
    Tread Lightly.

My coworker keeps telling me to buy this. I kinda feel like it's cheating :))

It is cheating. In a good way.

I showed a friend of mine this. He is a really good bass player, prodigy-like... but cant perform live due to anxiety. He got all quiet. He had to learn the "real" way by being locked inside for adolescence, using a turntable and transcribing, slowly.

Rocksmith I think is more fun than learning guitar. Soon, within 4-5 years, I think we see a full package that is like Rosetta Stone meets Rocksmith meets Justin Guitar meets social media that will basically be capable of developing anybody who is willing to put in the time.

If you have a guitar and limited play space the flexibility of being able to run your guitar through your stereo with scales or chords displayed on your tv in a living room or small apartment is really priceless. Plus for beginners it forces them to always be in tune. It's really worth the price. You get a ton of true effect pedals along with multiple amp and head configurations. I play through the system now more than my amp rig.

Really like this game, one of the reasons I bought this was because of the Pearl Jam songpack. I play bass in a Pearl Jam tribute band so I was already familiar with the basics, but the bass parts are more detailed then can be found in any tab and some parts are a bit hard to analyse by listening. So it helped me to improve in some sections of the songs.
