Long Road inspiration

Not sure if anyone else posted this, but I'm listening to the San Diego boot and during the first encore, Ed goes into this long version of the inspiration of "Long Road". Clayton L was his teacher, and if you read the notes in Mirrorball, it says, "for Clayton". For almost 10 years, I wondered who this was.
Some more of Ed comments:
"We were in the studio working with Neil on Mirrorball, eating, I remember it was Japanese food. When I got the call, I immediately knew. I walked out of the room and went into this empty studio, picked up a guitar, hit a chord, hit the chord again, I think I was trying to ring a bell, to say, we lost one of the good ones. This is a important moment in history, we lost one of the good ones. I kept hitting the bell for like 8 mins, 10 mins, then the other guys came into the room, without saying anything, they just picked up their instruments, and hit the bell. I went up to the mic and this song happened, so this night is for Clayton and this song is for Clayton".....

1st Encore Break:
"Well, I tell you, we played a, show last night, and um. We are a hard working band, we play a show just about every night. It was in Las Vegas, there were some health issues, it was the worst fuckin gig, this is great, thanks so much. The crowd was good, last night, but um, it was just a tough one, but to get your encouragement to come out, we appreciate it.
And uh, and also, you know last night, we would like to tell you a little story, if I can, it might go on for a couple of mins, so go to the bathroom, make out with your girlfriend, but um, id be great to talk to you for a second, share it with you, with the music we are sharing, and our presence here tonight. It has to do with Education, as a educator, think about your lives would you, and if you have one teacher that really meant something to your life, that changed your life, raise your hand. So, not that I was expecting it, it was a higher percentage than I expected. If you see that around you, all the billions of dollars that is spent, you would think education would be better off. Especially in the US, where we have the oppurtunity to lead. So anyways, I just want to tell you a story about my experience. I had a teacher, who taught me some things, got me through some stuff, alot of us were touched, and it was a hard touch, he is still with us today, and through a campaign of letter writing, we are gettting a theatre in Encinitas, north county, named after my teacher, called the Clayton E. Leggitt theatre. Some of the money from tonight's tickets, go to that, thank you for participating and making me proud. Now uh, my friend and mentor, Clayton is no longer with us, but he still lives in inside for all those he touched, I remember the moment I heard he passed, we were in the studio with Neil making a record called Mirrorball, and we were in the backroom eating dinner, i think it was Japanese with the guys, and we got this phone call and soon as I heard what it was, I knew who it was. I left the room, went into the studio, this empty studio, picked up a guitar, i think i was looking for someone to talk too, outside of the guitar, but there was nothing, but this guitar, so I picked it up, hit a chord, hit the chord again, I think I was trying to ring a bell, ring a bell, to say that we lost one of the good ones, this is a important moment in history, we lost one of the good ones, so i kept hitting the bell, for like 8 minutes, 10 minutes, then the other guys and Neil came in the room, without saying anything, they just picked up their instruments, and starting hitting the bell with me, they are all ringing the bell, and I went up the mic, and this song happened, yeah, so this night is for Clayton and this song is for Clayton, thanks for listening".......
I've got to say this. For a man so talented, and capable of such beautiful poetry, he is one of the worst public speakers I've ever witnessed!
But the first thing they teach you in public speaking classes is to be aware of how many, "uh" and "ums" you use. But for some reason, they sound alright when Ed talks.

The song itself isn't posted, just the introduction, so it's a lot of buildup for nothing. It's still a beautiful story, and coming from someone who was there, the song was amazing. Get this boot!!! It may be blasphemy to say this, but I enjoyed this show more than the Gorge last year.
