Was listening to the Boston II show on the drive to work today and I was completely blown away by Stone's solo during "Rockin in a free world". Amazing. Anyone else hear this?

Hells yeah. This is actually the first time I've been moved to post here...that's how strongly I feel about that solo. I was at the show (thankfully, on Stone's side) and was blown away by what I heard. He's usually so economical, letting Mike handle the more face-melting leads, so that made it even more amazing that he absolutely tore the roof off the place.

I haven't heard the boot yet, but during the show I was wondering how it would sound because Theo Epstein, the Red Sox GM, was playing guitar with them during RITFW. He knows how to play and everything, but his timing seemed a little off. There was even a point where he was holding down the rhythm while Mike AND Stone were soloing.

This is how much I loved that solo, I've played "RIFW" more than "Leash" from Boston II. Now, I've heard them play "RIFW" hundreds of times, but I was listening to it today, and the usual stuff, then all of a sudden I hear this "noise" and it's coming from the right side of the speaker, so I know it's Stone, and it's just keeps going and going and Stone is just ripping it. Much love for Stone, much love.

Yup, that officially popped my message pit cherry. Damn, anybody got a cigarette?

I'm just glad someone else witnessed that solo and I didn't just hallucinate the whole thing. I almost don't want to buy the boots for the Boston shows because they are **perfect** in my mind right now.

I'm all about Stone. When everyone else is watching Mike go off during Even Flow or Corduroy, I'm the one guy staring at Jeff, Matt and Stone pound the rhythm into the ground behind him.

Stone's solo is about 2 mins long, but it's tough to explain the intensity of it. When I hear it, I have this mental picture of Stone just rippin away and having that pained expression on his face as he sings along with the solo. The solo almost comes out of nowhere, cause u think the song is almost over, very special indeed.

I don't even understand how you can associate the DTE solo with the RITW? That's like saying every "Even Flow" solo is similar to the solo in "Porch". You should go back and listen to it again and again.

Not to harp on this subject, but has anyone listened to Stone's solo in "Fuckin Up" at the DC show? Another sensational solo. I think it may be time for Mike to hand over the duties. :)

Those solos kicked ASS!! :D VEDHEAD played both Fuckin' Up and RITFW for me last night and all I got to say is, when Stone plays, he REALLY PLAYS his heart out!

There are some fans that think that Stone is JUST a rhythm guitarist, but he is FAR from that!! Anyone who has heard his solo stuff knows what I am talking about!

Glad to hear that Stone is ROCKIN' those solos!!! :D

well my main problem is that if you listen to the solo....the first half is the same 4 or 5 notes. and there is a part which to me, sounds similar to the solo in DTE

the end bit aint bad, i just think folk are immediately loving it and saying its truly epic because its stone

I'm listening now, its very exciting!

Daaaaamn, Stone knows how to TEAR THAT SHIT UP! I can picture him now playing this one, totally committed to the moment, knees bent, head back and forth, constipated look on his face, mouthing the solo to himself in that cute way he does, and Ed probably looking on thinking Stone has finally handed over his soul to the gods of guitar greatness.

    Go Stoney!

Was that a Stone solo or a Theo Epstein solo? Stone was funny as hell during RITFW and YL! But actually seeing Theo rock out with PJ was unreal!
  • obiwon76obiwon76 Posts: 568
The version of "Fuckin Up" from DC is nice cause Mike has his solo and then Stone does his thing. I actually had a nice view of Stone during his solo and he almost fell off the stage cause he was so into the solo.
