I have tried over and over for the past two months, but I just cannot listen to any of the boots from 2000-2003. I don't know what the problem is, but after hearing how great the band sounded during the 2006 shows so far, everytime I hear "Jeremy", "Breakerfall", or "Even Flow", I just get this vibe of turning off the music and putting in a 06 show. Am I the only one? It just sounds subpar.

I can see 2003, but not 2000. 2000 of course had its ups and downs as any other tour, but there are some real strengths hre that you shouldn't overlook. I bought them all when they came out and have listened to them ever since.

    Examples:

Philadelpia 1 (Aguably the best of the tour and I havent heard the band this tight in 2003, 2005 or 2006)

Pittsburg (Another fantastic boot, best sleight of hand and I got shit you'll ever hear)

I wanna highlight those two. Other honourable mentions goes to Washington, Chicago, Detroit and Boise.

Don't give up on 2000! You are gonna miss some of the tightest shows in the past 6 years!
    I will swallow poison
  • Okay, I'm only basing this on the two boots I have from those years, Dublin 2006 and New York 9th July 2003.......but the New York show is way better than the Dublin show.

The set list is better, the sound is better, the banter is better.

    London - 20/4/2006
    Dublin - 23/8/2006
    London - 18/6/2007
    New York City - 24/6/2008
New York City - 25/6/2008 - we will be "what is up" New York
    Manchester - 18/8/2009
    Manchester - 20/6/2012
    Leeds - 6/7/2014
    London - 18/6/2018

Yeah, the sound is better in 2003, but I agree that some of the 2000 boots are a bit tighter. I don´t know what I prefer. I agree that sometimes it´s difficult to listen to old boots, simply because they (of course) lack some of the newer songs.
But once in a while it´s great to put on the older ones. All of the tours have a different sound

When I hear the 2000 or 2003 boots, then I can't hear the 2006 ones

    each tour has its highlights:

2000 - a bit on the darker side (naturally considering the tragedy), but Nothing As It Seems has never sounded as good as it did during this tour.

2003 - You Are - worth the ticket price alone, Boom on the organ (excellent versions of Nothingman) and New York 2 has the best EVER version of Corduroy.

2006 - the new album sounds amazing live, but touring this new baby means a lot of the beautys from the back catalogue gets lost.

so, to sum it up, i wouldn't be without any of my bootlegs (and i got a complete 2000-2005 collection, still missing some 2006 shows).

also, the 1993-94 tour is one of my all time favourites, and the Canadian 2005 leg is an underdog, great vibes throughout.

I agree, some of the highlights for me from 2000 was hearing "Pilate" being played more than once. "Timeless Melody" was a new cover, and they played "Leaving Here" more often.

2003 we got a nice dose of "Cropduster", and the occasional "Ghost" and "Help Help".

To me, 2006 was the peak of the bands live career, I dont think they have sounded better than they do today. The Euro shows were fantastic, and the new songs generate enormous energy.

I can only imagine what the Aussie shows will bring. How about "Hold On"?

I seem to listen to the last boots each time a new tour happens. 2000 boots started collecting dust in 2003, 2003 in 2005, 2005 in 2006.

But I mean, everyonce in a while I will pull out an old one, and its nice to hear songs a different way, or hear Ed say something you havent heard before or remember hearing.

The only problem is, I have bought less boots each year. So 2000, I have a bunch, less from 2003, and so on, I wish I would have been a little more conservative spending money on good ol' pearl jam. Just added up all the things listed in my account on pj.com, and it doesnt even count the boots and its a pretty high amount of money I must say....
words seem so out of place.

don't ever listen to them!!! your ears will bleed and you will die!!! on those tours the band sounded like a garage band of 12 year olds that got instruments for Christmas. I know those boots from 2000 and 2003 are not as good as you were in the video with those the people at the star wars premier with triumph the comic dog.
  • pearl jam was something else in 06. this was the 4th tour i'd been to, and they were far more amazing than i'd ever seen them. as much as i enjoyed last tour, and the bootlegs, 06 has been exponentially better

I agree with the person who stated that 2006 was the best ever for the band, from a touring perspective. I feel the same, it's almost like watching a TV show that has been on the air for 10 years, but for the first 5 seasons, nobody watched, then all of a sudden, it became a hit. I think "Seinfeld" is a example. Some of the older shows from the first season was hilarious, but it got better towards the end.

Maybe the 2006 tour has more energy than ever, but for setlists, this is by far the worst tour so far imho

i like the boots from this year cause they are fresh and they have new material on them but i like when they tour after the new material has been out for a while meaning not so much publicity or tv appearances just tour for the sake of touring not so much to support a new album anyway just my thoughts .......

I absolutely loved this 2006 tour. I loved the new CD in and out---it didn't take me a while to grow on me, it instantly did. I loved hearing the new tracks woven with the old favorites. I LOVED THIS TOUR!!!!!!! :D

Some of the 2000 and 2003 are excellent and feature in my top 10. Are we not mentioning 2005?

    2000
    Milan
    Philadelphia
    Boise

    2003
    Mexico 19 July (amazing)

    2005
Buenos Aires (one of the best ever)

Personally I find some of the 2006 shows repetitive and some of the Avocado songs not good enough to be played live.

This tour is (pardon my french) the shitz!!!! I've never heard the band sound better, and I've been a bootleg collector since 94. They are at the top of their game, in their prime, what have you, every boot that I've listened to from the Euro tour has blown me away.
