(And hopefully get some cool data ;) )

    Please post:
    Your nember number
Date you bought the membership (as accurate as possible, include month/day if you can remember..)
    Current Age

    :)

EDIT: Data up to page 13.

It is user reported data that was highly rounded, so it's not completely accurate, but still pretty cool.
Would like to get some more data points in the less than 50,000 number range..

Blue data points were reported as exact month/year.
Orange data points were reported as year w/out month or season/year or as a guess.

Interesting to note the numbers of the users that responded joined around the date of an album. The gaps in the data occur between albums.

This one didn't turn out as 'clean' as I expected. Goes to show that Pearl Jam's music reaches all age groups.

I'm trying to figure out the motive or reason for this graph. I appreciate all the time you must have spent on this project. I can not submit my data. I have had over four member numbers in my time and I can't see a universal advantage. I have been told that my old member numbers went stale and are not given away or used.

Is there a place in your chart for misfits like myself? (those that forgot to renew and have several periods of identity?)

“If we increase r [in a logistic map] even more, we will eventually force the system into a period-8 limit cycle, then a period-16 cycle, and so on. The amount that we have to increase r to get another period doubling gets smaller and smaller for each new bifurcation. This cascade of period doublings is reminiscent of the race between Achilles and the tortoise, in that an infinite number of bifurcations (or time steps in the race) can be confined to a local region of finite size. At a very special critical value, the dynamical system will fall into what is essentially an infinite-period limit cycle. This is chaos.”

I don't really have a motive beside curiosity and some extra time I can spare to waste.

If you remember your numbers/join dates I can include them. They still correlate to accurate data even though they are expired.

    Interesting quote. :)

    FrankieG,

I don't know if it has been said in this thread yet, but it is important to your data.

A person is assigned a Ten Club number, or at least were assigned a Ten Club number in the past when they bought merchandise.

Then in the future if that person who bought merchandise, then bough a membership #, then their # would reflect not when they joined the club, but rather from the original date of purchase.

I don't know if this policy continues, but it was in full effect in the late 90's, early 00's.

So those skewed numbers, aside from people just simply forgetting when they joined, are also a reflection of this number assigning policy the Ten Club had for years, and for all I know still have.

    Hope this info helps.

Also.... I already posted my join date, but just had a look at MY ACCOUNT and it is slightly different.

    It says:

04/07/1999 Legacy Pearl Jam Membership (Start: 1999-04-07 End: 2007-03-07)

Even though I thought I joined in January of 1999. Anyway or rather either way, I definitely joined in the first 4 months of 1999.

I unfortunately let mine lapse a few years before this so I got a newer, higher number. Shame really, though it wouldn't have been a massive difference it still niggles at me!

It's really interesting following your data, thanks so much for putting it together
