Pretty easy when you've only been to a few show but I intend to change that.
Wow. I mentioned it early in the thread... but the true/best pearl jam experience is a proper arena show.

The way the set lists are built... The momentum, etc... it's a religious experience for a fan. Imo PJ20 lacked as did wrigley. Those events were awesome for many reasons though.

100% agree. Arena shows are where it's at.

    Wow, let's see.
    Spectrum 2 - 2009
    WFC 2 - 2013
    Newark - 2010
    WFC 1 - 2013
    MIA Fest - 2012

Truth be told, MIA was a solid show - they did a setlist full of hits which is unusual, the band was on fire, they had 99 problems and a b wasn't one...but the Springsteen show at Citizens Bank Park the very next day just blew it away and that kind of taints my memory of it.

I certainly can't argue with anyone who wants to put those higher, but this was my logic:

MSG '98 was a great show with one stellar and now historical moment, where the band turned a corner and never looked back. I think the 'Breath' sign campaign really showed the band just how much people were traveling and the type of community they had created. I point to this moment as the beginning of their we-will=play-anything-at-anytime style, which they have now perfected. A great fucking show.

Looking back, I believe Randall's Island night 2 was the best of the '96 shows. No Code is still my favorite album, and this show was the peak of that point in their career. Another amazing show, and is the one I most wish they would release from the vault.

But both these shows, while obviously awesome, are only epic years later, after looking back. The entire Philly run, however, was epic in the moment - culminating with nights 3 and 4. Everyone knew it...you could feel it in the air. The anticipation and hype was insane - closing the Spectrum....on Halloween...with the World Series next door...and the band more than lived up to it. The setlists are crazy, and Philly 4 is the longest show in PJ history. The performances may not have been perfect, but it was probably the most fun I've had at any show.

Still...you could put those 5 shows in any order and nobody could argue. I've definitely gotten lucky over the years!

Here's an attempt at my top 10 of the 56 I have been to:

    1. 2007 - The Vic
    2. 2009 - Universal City #4
    3. 2005 - Ottawa
    4. 2009 - Philly #3
    5. 2007 - Dusseldorf
    6. 2009 - Philly #4
    7. 2013 - London
    8. 2005 - London
    9. 2008 - Hartford
    10. 2009 - Universal City #3

That was harder than I thought. I can't believe Buffalo 2003 didn't make my list. It gets the honorable mention spot along with Kitchener 2005.
1996: Toronto 1998: Barrie 2000: Saratoga Springs 2003: Buffalo, Toronto 2005: Kitchener, London, Hamilton, Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto 2006: Toronto x2, Cleveland, Detroit, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Gorge #1 2007: London, Dusseldorf, Vic, Lolla 2008: WPB, Tampa, DC, MSG x2, Hartford, Boston x2, Beacon 2009: Toronto, Chicago x2, Seattle x2, LA #3&4, San Diego, Philly x4 2010: Cleveland, Buffalo, Hartford 2011: Montreal, Toronto x2, Hamilton 2012: Missoula 2013: London, Wrigley, Pittsburgh, Buffalo, Hartford, Dallas, OKC

I was only able to do nights 3 and 4, but yes...they were very special.

Even if technically night 4 was the 2nd longest show ever ;)

I was bored at work and started ranking my 21 shows for about the millionth time and came here to start a thread but found this one, so here goes. I would justify my picks but it took long enough doing this much. I will say the 1995 DC was my first and is the only reason it's as high as it is. I didn't try to go strictly by setlist or anything, though it inevitably helped distiniguish shows from the same tour.

Would it? I'm not sure if the AMS2 setlist could have been any better. I'm pretty sure the dude was one of the OG 10C members. That deserves a lot of respect as is.

Also, before anyone knew had been picked by him, we were (by like the 15th song) yelling, "this is the most amazing setlist ever!" to each other in the stands. It was clear that we were in for a special night.

If had been "an actual fan," how do we know it wouldn't have been "an actual fan" with bad taste who wanted them to play last kiss and cover Coldplay?

Yeah, that guy was one of the first 10c members ever. Don't see why him getting to kind of know the band over all those years should disqualify him from being a deserving winner! I personally thought his setlist was really good... not as good as I've seen it made out to be, but still very solid. Don't see why anyone one would begrudge that dude for getting to do that. Sounded like he was pretty stoked about it!

He's a good friend of the band. I've known the guy from way back... The whole thing was a sham for publicity.
