This happens a lot at big festivals, so many people crammed into one space overloading the cell towers, thousands of phones constantly updating, trying to get a better signal. I had the same problem at music midtown last year and that was only 50,000 people.

Never saw Pearl Jam in the festival setting. I'm sure it needs to be experienced by every fan eventually.
I saw them last year in Atlanta at the Music Midtown festival. My buddy and I flew out from Iowa early Saturday morning the day of the show, went straight to the park from the airport, and got early in line before the gates opened. We managed to get rail directly right in front of Mike, I shit you not.
It was quite the experience being there like that in front of 60,000+ people. Tons of interaction with Mike and Matt the entire night, and caught numerous picks from Mike. I'm glad I had the experience, but my body has never been in so much pain before after standing and being in that kind of crowd the entire day - and I'm only 28 years old and played football in college!
Would I ever do that again? Probably not. Would I choose a normal show with 10c tickets over a festival show? Absolutely. But happy I had that experience, it was pretty cool and an absolute blast.
