Wow, I find it amazing that most of these bands/artists have never had a #1 song on the charts...
I mean, (no offense to the fans) but the one that didn't surprise me was the Ramones. They're definitely a huge band in terms of today, but they didn't get the respect and honor that they deserved early on.
Badge of honor. I expected to see Pink Floyd in there, but "Another Brick in the Wall" climbed that mountain.
10/31/93 Berkeley (Baba!) • 10/1/94 Bridge School • 9/16/96 Seattle (In My Tree!) • 10/19/96 & 10/20/96 B. School (Alt Corduroy & Alt Porch!) • 10/25/03 B. School • 6/1/03 Mtnview (Crazy Mary! You Are!) • 11/29/13 Portland (All Those Yesterdays! Even Flow!) • 10/25/14 Bridge School (Rain! Fuckin Up! TOTD!) • 5/13/22 Oakland (had to leave early, but W.M.A.! Immortality!) • 5/13/24 Sacramento (Light Years! Picture in a Frame!) • 5/25/24 Bottle Rock (Last Kiss! Maybe It’s Time w/Bradley Cooper!)
not when you consider the stuff that DOES hit #1. This is about the pop music charts. In other words, what 9-13 year olds listen to, they are the ones driving the pop charts. Last Kiss is right in their wheelhouse. Catchy and simple, and not much substance. The top 40 is jammed full with songs like that every week. Good rock songs sell out arenas, but they don't chart as high as the garbage in the top 40.

It's always seemed much harder to get a rock song to #1 than a pop song... even back in the day.
no shit

I'd rather be Metallica with a number 9 than some boy band with a number and and long dead.

I dont understand these chart things anyway.
