They are VERY cool, and they are playing in Vancouver at the Rickshaw tonight and I can't go because I'm just too sick still. :( :( :( But a friend of mine is going, and he's super pumped. :)

Excellent documentary "The Name of This Band is Death"!!! So worth seeing!
  • I did. I first heard of them when they played at the Orion Music and More Festival, the festival created by Metallica, in Detroit, Michigan on June 8 & 9 this year. There was a lot of confusion when Death was on the list because many assumed that it was Death, the Death Metal band from Florida and not Death, the African-American punk-rock group from Detroit. I would have wanted to see them but they played on another stage one hour before Metallica were to take the stage.

OK call me lame, because as much as I love music and explore most genres widely, I didn't know about this band until recently. I was searching for music documentaries that I hadn't seen yet and came across one titled "A Band Called Death" about the proto-punk band from the early 70's called Death. I though, huh!, that's sounds cool. Is it ever! Are they ever! Wow!  And I'll tell you with no shame, I was moved to tears at one point in the documentary.  What a story!

Just ordered it!  So stoked- I can't wait to hear this!  From what I heard in the documentary, I'm sure I will dig it!
And that documentary is so good, I watched it again tonight before I sent it back to Netflix tomorrow.   Such a great music doc, and some of my favorite people in it- Henry Rollins, Jello Biafra, Mickey Leigh!
