Was checking out this video, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-4mkiKBi0n0 , GA looks pretty small.
I'm taking in a couple shows out west,...was wondering the size of GA,...has this been the typical size?

Not sure if it was small, but it was seemingly very reserved. Except for the time Ed stopped the show to admonish a group being out of control. That was pretty awesome.

It was definitely smaller than Philly and Brooklyn but so was everything else in Charlottesville. Loved it!

It was smaller than usual. I was really wishing I was in there.

Baltimore seemed small too. Philly was packed like sardines. But I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that they are making people take off old GA bracelets. People were getting into the GA Pit that didn't actually have pit tickets!

A little off topic but Brooklyn seemed a good amount smaller than Hartford to me

  • Here are a few points of note, although I was only in GA for Charlotte and was sidestage (114) for Charlottesville.

    1. Charlottesville was a smaller show, was it not? I'm also guessing it sold less GA tickets, because less people elected GA for it in fear of not getting those tickets to a small show.

    2. The "apparent size" of the pit, if you are looking at the amount of space taken up by people, versus the empty space behind the pit but in front of the rear crowd-wall, I will tell you from Charlotte that this space can vary by OVER 50%. I thought we were packed in pretty decent in Charlotte for 75% percent of the show. Somewhere around the encores (alive?) Eddie came to the extreme front of the stage, and the entire pit surged forward. The space that i thought was "filled" with bodies became HALF it's size easy. Suddenly i was reminded what a REAL pit felt like. And smelled like. No i mean, like i smelled people's PITS.

    3. The band would probably get more energy from the floor if it restricted the pit size further, as it is TOO spread out.

    4. I know this is a serious safety concern and will never happen, but I am telling you the truth. If the pit had been restricted in charlotte to about 70% of the size they made it, the crowd would have been tighter, and bounced harder. But that is just dreaming of yesteryear.
If I was to smile and I held out my hand
If I opened it now would you not understand?
