Best PJ show I've attendee to date.

I've seen PJ 23 times now. Was at the Spectrum shows, PJ20 and Wrigley. Tonight in Charlottesville topped them all. I was so jealous of Hartford before I went to the Bmore show. Them I said fuck that Bmore was better. Now I say fuck it all. Nothing will top tonight. The rumblings will be reverberating through the PJ scene for a long time on this one.

Could not agree more! Who knew my first show on the rail would turn out to be a legendary, epic PJ moment...and it was just that. I'm in awe. I thought Baltimore was insane, but Cville is that of legend. Cannot believe what I just experienced!
I hope they rock even harder tonight!
10-27-2013 (B-more)
10-22-2013 (Philly)
4-12-2003 (Orlando)
4-13-2003 (Tampa)
10-4-1996 (Charlotte)
Finally starting hard again. The flow. The mix of old new and rare. Fast and slow. Why go so early.
Eddie so genuinely and yet not very subtley trying to apologize to Jeff for drunken snubbing him in Baltimore.
The very clear way in which the band is honoring requests to those with heavy shoulders (between release, thumbing, and the hurricane sandy comments, that makes three at least.)
Think im hovering around 60ish shows. Won't pretend this was the Trump of them all. But it was damn damn damn damn good.
PS. If peeps were worried about band tension and a break up. Don't be. All is good. Last night is proof.
If I opened it now would you not understand?
Charlottesville should be the new State College.
Whatever magic ya'll thought State College had (and I had golden tickets for SC and side stage for C-Ville) I can PROMISE you that the reality is Charlottesville DWARFED it by orders of magnitude.
State College was *long* (and it no longer can even claim legendary length), it had its moments, and the crowd may have been more lovey-dovey with eachother, but the setlist and fan-band interplay at Charlottesville, and really just the intangible "Je ne sais quois" ... that palpable yet indescribable quality, the magnetic, warm and loving vibe that was circulating, driving from the stage to the crowd and back. I'm telling you guys...
!!!

My last show i was thinking about the show before it with drool eyes.
In my mind i was still sort of "back there".
Honestly, the band sort of looked it too.

I guess thats why they played less songs (still a lot- but less than the tour's standard)

I dunno, man. It was *really* good.
The crowd certainly had a magic in State College that I don't think is easy to surpass (maybe something like a Spectrum 03 crowd would top it) and perhaps there was no "let Stone sing!" moment or whathaveyou (the sweet beautiful noise of about 30 sets of toes slamming the front rail banging for an encore) but still.
Also,
I'm looking back at the fanview threads for the shows, because, after the repeat attempt in Charlotte of the "Ah-hah Oh-oh" singalong at the end of sirens, I had thought that they were doing this the whole tour.
However, it appears Charlottesville can claim the genesis of this call-and-response REPRISE to Sirens. And truly, it was a reprise. The song was over. It stopped, and eddie restarted it. And it was MAGIC.
magic.
ON SIRENS.
As said, this was tried again in Charlotte, and it fell sorely flat, as did multiple engagement attempts by Eddie.
Odd as hell too, cuz having previously lived in Charlotte for a decade, I can tell you it is a heavily PRO-PJ town. The band gets helluva airplay and both the political and musical culture in the rather large Charlotte "scene" is very much Pearl Jam positive. And yet some weird darkhorse show like Charlottesville, in what can best be described as "Dave Matthews Town east of biblebelt bumfuck, VA" takes it so much further it is hard to even communicate.
If I opened it now would you not understand?
And I was also at Charlotte last night, so no, it's not always the most recent one.
My husband saw Bklyn2 & Charlottesville and says
Cville>>>>>Bklyn
Best performance from any band i ever saw in my life..The Cocaine Show..
"..That's One Happy Fuckin Ghost.."
“..That came up on the Pillow Case...This is for the Greek, With Our Apologies.....”
The 2 I always come back to are the Philly 2005 show and the Philly 3 show in 2009.
"I need your strength for me to be strong...I need your love to feel loved"
Set lists are a strange thing. Some appreciate in value with time.
lol, we agree again my friend. I was thinking same thing...though I knew the genesis was in Charlottesville. But when he went for it in Charlotte I was like "man, dont ruin that special/beautiful moment we had in Cville with this impersonation attempt" and then I thought the same thing...flat. But my Wife and I thought a lot of the clt show was flat and at times it even seemed like the rest of band was having a hard time keeping up with Matt.

Ah, so THAT'S what that was after Sirens. That was one of the coolest things i've ever experienced. I thought it was just sheer improv. Didn't realize it had anything to do w/ Sirens. It was WAY after the song was over!
EDIT: ok, that was ridiculous nit to realize it was part of Sirens. It couldnt have been that long after. But it really was a surprise.

Yeh. So looks like it is super glossed over in the fan view thread. But if you read the part where he talk after footsteps, THIS is what really happened there:
Ed says what the fan view thread says he said. he thanks "Stone and Jeff" (who are standing in their normal spots, ie not near each other at all) but as he is thanking them from his chair, a lot of people are already starting to scream "Jeffffffff!" At pretty much the same time that Eddie was already raising his hand up behind his head to POINT at Jeff. at this point people are really screaming "jeffff!" (By, people, I mean the hardcores, not sure you will hear this on boot) and fractional seconds after Ed points at Jeff, mike also raises his hand and points directly at Jeff. "jefffff!"', again from the hardcores all around.
At this point (and I have no idea why this isn't in the fanview) Eddie actually stands up, looks as humble as possible, takes a stiff breath, and walked directly back to Jeff. It looked like he was considering a hug, but last second opted for the "dude, you know i fucking love you. You know I'm sorry I was drunk. Please drink my wine and accept my apology" maneuvere. Ed handed Jeff the bottle. Jeff raised it and swigged. the crowd rather went nuts for it.
it was completely organic, you could tell that many in the audience knew exactly what was going on, and you could tell the band knew that we knew. there was no other reason for mike to point solely at Jeff after Ed's vague ass "thank you" ostensibly to "stone and Jeff" for writing footsteps.
Lol.
It was icing on the cake beauty for the entire show.
